Good input guys. now, second phase of my inquiry is, where did you buy yours and what's the fair money on them ?

I bought mine from The Rock Inn in Mt. Lawley, for $599.

I've used a Marshall SE100 for years, its been solid and works well but it does shave the top a bit and only has 2 levels of attenuation
I'm happy with my Marshall PB-100, 12 level positions,"dummy load"

Hi all,

if you have any question regarding the technology of those boxes let me know. Regarding witch one is better, I can't give a recommendation as it is, like always, a matter of taste.

Just to say, independently from the technology used, the tone of your amp (in frequency and gain) will change.

The change is a combination of :
- the technology of the attenuator
- the level of attenuation (the more you attenuate, the more you feel a change)
- The gain of you amp (more gain = more harmonic components in the sound = easier to hear harmonic cancellation in the sound)
- the way our hears +body works ( lower volume = less sensitivity in low and high frequencies, see the Fletcher-Munson curves + less "body feeling" of the lower frequencies)

If an attenuator has to be transparent, the only way to compare the signal with and without the attenuator is to record the sound in both cases and put the two signals out of phase. Sadly, even if you're really experienced with listening guitar sound, your hear is always pretty weak at testing sounds. But you hear is perfect to find what you prefer. ;)
