Mentioned these awhile back. But man these speakers kick ass. I’ve since loaded numerous cabs with them. I have the AV75’s below a pair of UK Greenbacks in a 1960ax, an EVH 2x12 with an AV30 and AV75, and a Sourmash vertical slant with the same AV30/AV75 mix. I also just ordered an AV90 to try in my Bogner Cube. Have the AV60 also which is good, but I’m not much of a V30 fan to begin with. Just doesn’t jive with my Marshall inspired amps.

The AV75 and AV30 are both explosive and articulate in the highs with no harshness/ice pick whatsoever. Neither are a knock off of the G12T-75 or G12H-30…….but rather their own thing. Much more open and articulate than their equal watt Celestions. And bury the WGS counterparts……especially at volume.

Highly recommend checking these out at the price point. Made in US by Misco if web info legit.

Is the av60 a less harsh v30 though?
Because I don't enjoy aggressive speakers.

Guitarguy has some great info on this in his threads.... how do you feel about them?

I have to agree here wholeheartedly.

The AV60s are the 'perfected V30'. Which is epic, but yeah, I'm not the biggest V30 guy either generally.

Fane M65 is really good but...

The AV75 is shockingly good.

Yes, they seem to bury the WGS competition, especially at volumes.

Excited to hear how you get on with the AV90, as I have an 80w Marshall combo I've considered getting one for.

I order 2 of AV60 to try and I give credit for discuss this help me feel safe to buy it hard to get here so hope they will sound.like you have spoken. I follow this discussion while lurking ?

I have a whole thread where I compare several speakers. There are summaries on pages 1 and 3 for closed and open back cabs.

The AV60s are great speakers if you are seeking a Vintage 30 variant.

I am more of a Greenback, but still find that AV60s have a certain something that is cool.

If you ordered a pair because you generally like V30s but find that they have an upper mid spoke you dislike, these will clear that up.

Here is a link to that thread: https://www.rig-talk.com/forum/thre...summarized-results.312396/page-4#post-4118680

I think, overall, the summaries do an OK job of relating my specific experiences. Keep in mind that's all it does though! If I were using my Marshall with a Les Paul, the testing and sounds may have come out differently. That being said, I tried to describe the speaker reaction and tonality itself as a reference, so maybe you will find them useful.

I wish I could get my hands on each AV and spend time micing them up. I have a mic setup on the way, so maybe that will be in the works soon!

I would love to hear how these record. A lot of speakers sound fine in the room like Eminence, but really fall apart under a mic.

I have finally got my stuff setup for recording the speakers. I have begun my in depth clean demo for the AV75. I will do an in depth clean, crunch, and heavy series for each speaker I currently have from them. Eventually, I'll create these demos with as many as I can get my hands on.

Hope to have a video before too long with the AV75!

I never liked WGS as a product, it's just not good and it cost the same as a Celestion or an Eminence in some cases now. They just never sounded good to me and I've never liked them.

Reviving this thread - curious since you got to try both the AV75 and the AV30 - I am curious if the AV30 is similar to the AV75 but with some bass and treble removed if you recall. Also was thinking of checking out the Hellatone 25 - any experience with it?

No but the Hellatone 30 is pretty awesome. I have (2) 8 ohm Hellatone 30s in a series 2x12. I noticed the Avatar steel basket proportions and rib looks a lot like an Eminence. Avatar does a decent break in. I too have been on a speaker kick again.

Hellatone 30s are just broken in Cleestions but I bet they do sound killer. I love the AV75s in my cabinet when paired with my Rivera but am always curious of how different speakers will work with it. The Hellatone 25 and AV30 are only $87 currently - could get a pair of either to check out in my cab for $174. The HT30s are quite a bit more.

Depending on amp, wattage and how hard you push these them consider the 25 use a paper material on the coil vs nomex.

But I mean to me that's a positive and its a fat 50 oz magnet too. Having said that the Hellatone 50 looks good too.

Good catch on the paper voice coil - they always present a very clear sound. The Rivera is only a 25w amp.

Yeah if you have a 50 watt or 100 Watt amp I would probably skip but with a 15-30 Watt amp you can afford to use them and get great results without having to worry about them burning or whatever or blowing up like Hendrix.

But yeah I mean some of these are using some interesting Kurt Muller cones like the AV75.

I mean honestly if you can go for the 25 as it's rare to come by speakers like that anymore and they are based on a Greenback with a big ass 50 oz magnet so double win IMO. Otherwise the HT50 looks pretty interesting if you ask me.

I mean with stuff like this around who the hell needs WGS and these are kind of like a hidden gem. You can get one of those Mojo Tone Cabs and some of these and youre better off than a lot of cabs out there.
