Curious on people's thoughts that have bought either of the units or if they have tried both and which they preferred or have researched.

The Axe FX II delivers great effects and very good amp sims. I also have an Axe FX II and it's a really nice piece of gear. If you want to use the the processors for guitar only, I would go with the Axe FX, if you would do a lot more with it, then the Eventide will be the way to go.

Its just gotten way out of hand for me recently. I see this all over he web. Its absurd. No one claims their toyota is equivalent to an Austin Martin, Bentley etc. To do so would be laughable.
Why this particular community does this is seems an aberration. They loose credibility by doing this. I know for a fact that they have turned a lot of potential customers away and have lost sales because of behavior in this and the dreaded 'K' issue.
I promise that my responses to this issue at Rig Talk will now be post rant.

Lester, no its not. I helped develop the 4000 series, Orville series, Eclipse and H8000 series while at Eventide. I was the alg/preset designer and built the bulk of the factory library.

And understand this is not aimed at you in any way but at the general Axe community.
The H8000 is a arguably the finest sounding effects unit ever made and absolutely the most power ever handed to the user. The Axe is a pretender not only as an amp but as an effects box. If you listen with your ears instead of someone else's mouth you will hear for yourself that these two items are not in the same league. Those that claim with lemming foolishness or intended misdirection notwithstanding.
Anyone who actually compares these units can not claim otherwise without lying. One is lush the other cartoonish. I understand that his 'flaw' may in fact be a benefit to some.
I dont care what anyone uses.
The 'this tool vs that tool' argument is old and tired but I have had enough of the axe is as good as an Eventide argument. For some time I've just let it go. Fools talking to fools... However it is not fools talking to fools. Its really liars talking to potential fools isn't it.
These items ARE NOT EQUIVALENT IN ANY MANNER. Use YOUR OWN EARS or be a fool.
Those who started this at the companies website were called out and some actually made the comparison and stated that they were wrong and that these items are in truth NOT in the same league after all - woohh what a surprise! I'm shocked ! Really, is it possible - 'say it ain't so Joe!'
Sorry guys but Your fuckin 'behringer' is NOT a NEVE ! Get it? I dont care how loud you wish it were it is NOT. Get past it. Have fun with YOUR choice and shut the fuck up about everything else. Again I do not care what wrench you fix your toilet with. Just STOP LYING.
To the OP are you looking for sim or Fx? Both- go get an Eventide and Kemper.
Any direct question? Your shooting too wide here.

Your not Lifeson, Pettrucci or Via. Their choices and needs for their live rig are just that - their choice and needs not yours or others. To assume more is misguided. I never said they dont know sound, whats in their wallet or what they 'settle for'. Your comments are IMO aimed inappropriately - again IMO in a desire which looks to misinform.
Yes possible convenience. You would need to ask them. I never said the Axe is not a nice piece of kit. I said it is not an Eventide. Is it a good rig for gigging or recording? Of course. To say otherwise would be ridiculous. My issue is not about what it is but what it is not. About how the community has historically acted across the web. Repeatedly stating misinformation which IMO is always unhelpful instead of being a bit more objective. Get it? No one really cares what you or I use. No one should choose with your or my ears. Get it? If it is worth investigating, then investigate it. If it looks the the tool for you than buy it. What do I care if you feel its 'more' guitar oriented?

Just curious, you sold the Axe II but kept the Ultra? Was it a money thing or sound?dallasb":1wvuxndh said:I think the Axe is cool. I have their products (MCF Ultra and former Standard) so they got plenty of my cash.
