65k at 29; you are doing just fine.

But bad $ skills still. Liability only making $65k

Agree for sure. The problems lies in the fact that I had a job making 35k a year, before getting my CDL A, a few years ago that I was with out of high school right up until they closed. When I started driving tractor trailers for a local company and saw my first year income over 50k for a new starting driver I went spend crazy. Each year the earnings go up as I gain experience and get a yearly raise culminating in 2 years at the "top rate"(with said company)

Liability? If you're referring to my insurance, I only had liability on my cars because I own both of them. The other car I let my gf use which is why I had to buy a new car.

I try to keep at least 6 months living expenses in the bank to cover emergencies - and that wasn't enough when the furnace went. Just saying now while you have the extra income you might want to build up a nice fund. And of course congrats on the new bad ass rig!!!!

yea, This is an example where you learn by experience. I make a little too much money to only keep 1k in the bank...

Just giving you a hard time. :) As you can see, even when you own your cars - full coverage helps :D

I'm never spending a ton of money on a car again, and I'm not trading them in every 4-5 years either. It's a real pisser to spend $30-$35K on a car, and then get jack shit on trade.

I'm driving a little Mazda 3 hatch now, get 36mpg, and will drive the fucker into the ground. I used to be enamored with cars, but these days, the older I get, the less I give two shits how fast they are or how cool they look. Still love guitars though!

Talks about changing bad habits with money.
Brags about getting a fully loaded vehicle that gets about 17 mpg.

well, due to a series of unfortunate events, I had to downgrade for awhile. Totalled my car and with only liability insurance it wasn't covered. I make about 65k a year and have lived with the motto" I only need $1k buffer in the bank for emergency purposes." (meaning I spend alot of money) Well, I found out really quickly I need to change my ways. I decided to stop with the "throw away" cars and caved in and went to a real dealership. Im 29 yrs old, never had a credit card and was a co-signer on a house that was forclosed on. Can you guess how much I had to put down and the rate I was given.... Had to come up with $5k quick which brings me to the point of this. Contacted Brad from KG and was able to trade him the axe fx II for and evh 5150III and matching cab plus he gave me $600 cash. I then returned the adams to gc and traded in my most beloved Wolfgang but was able to quickly put together the money and am now driving a beautiful fully loaded grand cherokee limited with a HEMI!
Anyways, really happy to be back to tubes :D but I do miss the convenience of recording my ideas directly to the macbook.

+1 on the Brad deal. Welcome back to tube land. I hope you are humbled by all this, dump the Cherokee. It is a fucking vehicle that is over priced and shit on mileage. Thanks for reading my uninvited opinion Peace  !

Congrats on getting what you want! Your worked for it. Don't let the haters rain on your parade.

I drove a '91 CRX until I was 35, even after a doctorate at 30. Hell, I'm 39 and still have that car and drive it often (except when the kids are with me   ) I think you realized that a good robust savings is needed. It's good to hear you weren't injured in the accident.

Congrats on the EVH

Damn dude that sucks, but I think you're figuring it out the hard way.
Car = point A to point B.

65K a year?
Invest in a house.
With neighbors who are either really cool or far away.

 Couldn't the all powerful Axe model a car for you?

There is something that does that already - The Smart Car.
