If you were purchasing today which Midi Foot Controller would you choose?

1) Rocktron All Access LTD
2) Liquid Foot Controller

To push the most air and have the the best live sound with using a power amp and cabinet scenario for Heavy Music.

Solid State Or Tube Power Amp? Does it really matter with this unit?

If tube would a Mesa Boogie 2:90 or VHT 2:50:2 be good options?

Does anybody use stuff like the Keeley Compressor or Drive Pedals like the BB Preamp or Fulltone OCD with the Axe Fx? I know the Axe has drive as part of the blocks, but how well does the standard pedals work, or is it just a waste of time to use them?

If a solid state power amp is used are you guys using the Power Amp Sag control to compensate for a tube feel?

Sorry for all the questions. I am going to take the plunge and order one in the next few days and am trying to make some decisions on certain aspects of my current gear and things I may want to change to make the Axe transition a good one.

I got the Voodoo labs GCP.... love it.

I'm also using a Carvin DCM1000 with my Randall XXL 4x12. sounds MASSIVE!

(sag question)
Dont care what I'm using, it varies for each patch, I just try and dial it with my ears.

What foot controller depends on how much you want to spend and what you are using it for. To me the Liquid Foot would give anything a run for the money right now IMO..It is more the the GCP, but you get a lot more interaction with the Axe. You also get updated LED's each preset change that shows you which effects are in and out of the patch, as well as which effect is on or off. The tuner option, which I hope comes soon was the deal sealer for me. I am going to get rid of my Rocktron as soon as I get my LF set up.

As far as your other questions, I can't really help you. I use QSC's and haven't really plugged in any of my "real" gear (for more than a few minutes)since I got the Axe. If you have gear that you really like, keep it and try it with the Axe when you get it.

FWIW, the Liquid Foot won't have any tuner display. That's exclusive to the Fractal Audio Systems controller due out soon.

I'd look for a used DMC Ground Control you should be able to find that for like 300 ish.
As for power amp if money is an issue get a low end used hang like a MosValve for 100 bucks. If not go with a BHT 2/50/2 that thin g and the Axe together make a killer combo.

I have a ground control pro, works great! But you could also use the rocktron midimate too. I used the midimate, but wanted more footswitches, so I went with the GCP. Once the fractal footswitch comes out I'll probably get one of those.

I like the options of having presets and instant access buttons so the GCP, All Access, Liquid Foot or the one Cliff is speaking of will be in the running.

Ed I have about $800 to $1000 to go on a power amp. I was leaning towards either the VHT or the Mesa 2:90 as I really want a tube power amp to mate with it. I cannot let go of tubes fully yet..... LOL

Well doesn't that just suck !

I don't know why, but I was under the impression you were going to let Liquid-Foot integrate the tuner when you got the Axe to transmit tuner info.

Guess I am going to have to buy their tuner module now

Ive always been a big fan of the All Access and thats what Im using, I also use the Rocktron Hex exp pedal. The AA is built like a tank and is pretty easy to program. I hear the liquid foot automatically recognizes the AxeFx and obviously the Fractal Audio will do the same.

Cant fault this logic.....of course you could wait for an impaler VHT2150 to show up on Ebay if you want to create hurricane air movement.

Except the 2/50/2 more than enough to move air, but you can crank it so you actually get some character going with the 34s.

Go program your amp and interface it with your pc nerd.............................

:D :D

Dont want to hijack, just want to +/- to the thread....

I bought the mesa 2:90, on the fractal site seems to be some folks who have used this setup and love it.

On the controller issue....I'm probably going to go with the GCP as its the most affordable with that type of setup.

Question on the tuner....can you turn on the tuner from the GCP and then just have to look at the axe's display? or do you actually have to push some tuner button on the axe to turn it on? just cuious....

I feel your pain brother! For the past 2 months my life has been Work,Girlfriend,Learning tunes and rehearsing with a band whose goal is to be playing out in a month. To add insult to injury, The guy who is really driving the band forward want's to shoot a full live video and we only have a month together with a shitload of tunes taken in and out of the set. Ive learned so many tunes so far that have been scratched. So far this has been very challenging.

You can activate the tuner with a CC I believe.

Yes, you can. And, you can choose which CC you want to do it with.
