I apologize if this has already been done and I missed it,...
Who's running Tube Amp, Who's running Solid State, and who's had both and has a USEful opinion??

Started it with the trusty Mosvalve which was my "go to" power amp for my wet/dry stuff for years. Was meh
Went to a VHT 2-50-2 with it and it became my "go to" gig rig. Still have the Mosvalve in the rack for back up.
Personally I'd rather use it direct then into a SS power amp. Actually I'd rather use it direct than with anything then the 2-50-2.

You're getting old like the rest of us. Get a good 1000W SS Power amp and call it a day.

Shit it's not like you play guitar anymore anyway   :D

Seriously, I have heard a lot of players saying they get great sounds from a good SS with enough power.

Ed D will step in and tell you VHT 2/50/2 or die

I have been using the Carvin TS-100 with my Ultra for a year and a half now with no problems and plenty of gigging or practicing hours on it. The amp has more than enough power to drive two V-30s in a Marshall MC212 cab. The sound to me is awesome. I have no desires for a traditional amp ever again.

Dude, you're slow. :)
That said I'd use the 2-50-2 with a overdrive pedal if I have to. That is the only power section that reacts like my old amps. And yes life is to short to have a rack set-up without a 2/50-2...so there.

All I've really used with mine is the 2/50/2 and love how it sounds/feels. Can't comment on any of the other amps though.

This saturday we will see for ourselves. I'l have my Boogie 2:90 rig and Kage will have his Carvin SS: we will play them through the same cab and see what the difference is after I tweak his Setting to work well with the SS poweramp.

If I don't hear or feel that much a difference, the 2:90 will come out of my Rack because its to fucking heavy :hys:

Stratagy 500 you pussy H :hys: :hys: :hys:

Coli 300 for the small venues.

I promise I'll stick to quarter notes from now on Master.   :D

I know.... I'm actually lookin forward to a CLUB 15 amp test!!!
It's just I've got the Boog 2:90 in for repairs, and I figure b4 I shell out anything either way I'd get some info from some folks with experience and skill ( that lets out scotty and randy....) :hys: :hys: with either/or.
I like the idea of tubes backing this thing up, but i'm not really a fan of a 200 pound, 6 space rack either...

I enjoy being somewhat tone stupid, makes my geetar life much easier and I just plink away :D

Currently using a RT2/50, pretty cool to be able to swap tubes easily and rebias quickly.

When I ran strictly direct I used a Manley tube pre. I feel that is a necessity. Sounded great.

When using a cab, tried 2:90, VHT 2/90/2, but liked the power section of my SLO best.

i run a crown 402 into two jbl eon 15's, and it sounds kick ass. it's all in how you dial it in guys.. debating hard on getting a qsc 122i or whatever it's called. save me taking the speakers and amp... less crap to drag to a gig.

Let us know how that goes.

i use a VHT 2/90 or a carvin dcm 150. Sometimes Ill use a VHT 2150

i've run through a Strategy 500 and a QSC 2450. my limited 2 cents is defenantly tube power if you're just using the AXE, but the SS was allright with the AXE in a WDW rig.

picked up a Marshall 9200 and should get it tomorrow if anybody want's to know how they do?

and if you aren't carefull with SS, they end up weighing as much as a tube amp!
