I was at Mctallica Tony's house and heard it through the VHT. Then we tried out the Mesa Simul-Satellite…. And the Simul-Satellite CRUSHED the VHT. I know you like Boogie amps, so the Simul should be right up your alley.

WOW!
Dave, crushed it how? tone? output??

This saturday we will see for ourselves. I'l have my Boogie 2:90 rig and Kage will have his Carvin SS: we will play them through the same cab and see what the difference is after I tweak his Setting to work well with the SS poweramp.

If I don't hear or feel that much a difference, the 2:90 will come out of my Rack because its to fucking heavy :hys:

Let us know how that goes.
Will do!!

Depends if the EQ was engaged. The satelites have the Graphic eq and if you tinker with that, it can appear to crush anything because of teh versatility

That was a big part of it.

Tony sold his VHT within a few day of getting the Simul-Satellite. The great thing is that you can engage/disengage the EQ with ease. Also, since it is Simul, you can mix power tubes and get some British EL34 flavor or 6L6 USA flavor. Not to mention the Tweed/Full power option. To me, it is a no brainer…if you bought the Axe for options, why settle on a power amp that doesn’t have the same flexibility?

If/when I get an Axe-FX, I will be getting a Simul-Satellite.
I don't need to be hearing this stuff right now..  I'm tapped out dammit!!! :D

I hear you but It depends on what you want to do! H can already pipe the Axe-fx through his MKIV's power section...Instant Sattelite right there.
Im not speaking for him but what I think he is looking for is something very portable that wont break your back lol. Even the sattelites are heavy IMHO
I know how great they sound lol!

As far as Im concerned, Im looking to lighten up the rig. Im currently using the 2:90 and it sounds killer but the fucker adds so much weight to my rack. The Carvin SS that Im looking at is only 16lbs :hys:
If I can get the carvin to sound decent (which I think I can) the 2:90 will be pulled out of the rack.
The other thing that Im trying to get away from is to much EQ. There are multiple EQ's in the AXE-FX and adding more EQ on top of that can be a PITA IMHO. trust me... Ive played around with EQ's for many years and Im kind of burnt out on it :D

I got the Axe because it sounds good, as does the VHT...so flexibility, as in turning an EQ on the power amp on or off doesn't factor in for me.

I might be following your lead on that. We landed a weekly gig playing in NYC as an after hour band for the broadway play Rock of ages. We would be sharing the bill with 3 other bands and we all have to use a backline. Im thinking about going direct since Im usually not comfortable playing on rented crap. Its not so much the amp but the cabinets used. Most likely they will use the 75 watt loaded Marshalls and I hate that speaker with a passion!! The AXE DI is probably going to be my saving Grace!!

I love big things in regards to amplification but have to admit a box that fits in a backpack sounds pretty damn cool esp if your running around a large city.
