Yep there is warmth that is missing from the AxeFX tone. Still the AxeFX tone is nice and definitely a very workable tone.

Sounds like an amp to me. Does it sound exactly like Stevie Ray's fingers playing his Strat through his amp being engineered by the top engineers of the day through the most expensive post processing gear on the planet? Not exactly but it does sound like a good amp. Thanks for posting.

Yes after owning the AxeFX and profiling with the Kemper I unfortunately can hear the difference in a mic'd amp and a preamp/ IR. I say unfortunately because there is certainly positives modeling has over a traditional rig convenience wise.

Just for me..... once I heard and felt the difference I can't undo that I noticed it nor am I willing to settle. For me the inconvenience of a traditional rig is worth it for the better playing experience over a modeler.

I'm not bashing wither unit because they are really cool pieces of gear..... just not for me to go all in digital. If I ever get one again it I will not ever go ampless to do so.

This is a very good point.

Sure, the clip may lack some oomph, but I am sure it can be dialled in a bit closer.

And if you then have some good outboard studio FX...

However, despite it being a tad on the thin side, it still sounds like an amp. At least from where I am sitting.

All these new clips have really got me re-interested in the axe and kemper.

I'm like Ejecta though, I want 100% tube experience and if its not there, I'll move on until it is....

In the room will be achieved with some decent FRFR monitors, preferably two to offer more dynamic bounce and breadth; and some far-field IRs. This can take some time, guaranteed. But as for amp 'feel', ya man, it 'feels' like you're playing an amp for sure... It's there.
