Axe-Ultra, this thing is totally off the hook...

...I'm converted. I can't believe I'm typing this. 6 weeks ago, I would have put MONEY on the fact there was NO way in hell the Axe-FX was going to "impress" me, or even live up to half its reputation. My goodness, I know - I know - why am I going blind into a colleseum of tube heads, hey, I am still a tube head...through and through, as mentioned today, I was hammering my 20thA into bliss. but the Axe got switched on shortly after - within SECONDS - incredible tone...wicked feedback, harmonics, pinch squeels, staccatos with thump, I just can't get over this unit!!!

There it is, flame away. I'm so stoked I took a chance on this thing. it's brilliant!!

I'm a tube amp guy all the way, never like Line 6 at all fun to toy with but thats it.

But the Axe Fx lives up to the hype.

I have the Diezel, Marshall Plexi/ JCM 800 and pre 500 Mesa Recto to compare it to.

Had my Ultra for 1 month minus 1 day. I couldn’t wait to throw it back into the crowd so I could invest in more tubes. You can not emualte a real EL34. Hello!

Hey V, I’m glad you are finding more and more love for the sound of music – in whatever footprint it may evolve from. You're a cool man. It never ends. I’m well grounded with my rig. I really can’t imagine at this moment in time what could possibly make my thang any better. GAS for me is in the past. Power tubes and preamp tubes are my love, passion and addiction.

I'm loving it. I could spend HOURS (maybe I already have!!) on the "Corksniffer" preset as is... Brilliant shit.

Naaaaah, mark my words, this one sticks around, and hey, thus far, it's making a KILLER all-in-one-box for a multitude for effects. Outside of my boosts and dirt, TF and PF, this thing's doing it all - and doing it DEAD silent. So even if I started to get tired of the emus, I'd keep it for fx - which was the original reason I bought it

One good use for the Axe is to use it for noodling and practice and this way I can keep my amps fresh for gigs

Congrats mate, have fun with it.
I have tube rigs and the Axe too. Love'em both.
Why?
Because of versatility. I can choose what to use in which situation. FRFR? Usually not. Only if I need to use IEMs and going direct to FOH. Poweramp and cab? Hell yes. I need the air pushing.
Recording? 99% Axe only.
Anyway a lot of guys selling it are explaining it by too complicated, too much tweaking, just doesn't work plug and play etc.
IMO:
The majority of the current population aged 10-60 in advanced or advancing countries can send Text messages. A lot of these guys are challenged by even using a microwave.
BUT
99% of these people would define texting as a "overly complicated and shitty form of communication" if it would be written down and learned from a documentation. Gosh it would take at least 2 pages to explain how to get the proper letters on an older phone.
Leave the advanced parameters behind for a time, learn from user presets, how they set up how they tweaked.
When you feel confident to start tweaking the Advanced amp parameters, one of the most important one is the speaker resonance, if you're running it with a poweramp and cab. Hit a chord and strat dialing. You will hear when it's right. It improves "feel" by 50%.

Great Unit, amazing tones and of course your an amazing player. Good players always seem to get good tone out the equipment they have. If you cannot find amazing tones in the Axe FX it is only because you did not give it enough time or have closed your mind to tubes only.
