Different beast.

The Two-Notes has no amp modeling - you use your own amp. So, for me, inherently there is a feeling and tone that is about as dead on as it gets, well, because it is my amp that I love already. By using my amp I am not using the power amp sim either, but I have with preamps and pedals and it is pretty great, so I am simply using a mic/cab IR. That means no amp modeling either, eliminating 2 of the 4 "sims" (amp/power amp/speaker/mic). Easier for me to find my tone.

I haven't played an Axe II, let alone FW10, so I don't know how it stacks up. Axe also has all the effects. Two-Notes none. Plus, the Axe has a plethora of amp models and an almost infinite ability to dial in. 2 spaces for an entire rig. With the Two-Notes you still need to haul and set up your Amp and fx.

If it's all about tone - then I would try both to see. If it's about using your current rig direct - Two-Notes. If it's about size, versatility and FX - Fractal.
I'm just messing with the axefx guys. I've use the two notes plug in for a while. :)

So it's settled then. TwoNotes > AexFX

Good info to know.

Can someone explain the complete setup with Two Notes. I am looking to play in house at lower volumes and this might be the ticket for my tube amps. Do I need to buy monitors? I don't know anything about the digital music world. Thanks.

Well, you could use the house monitors/PA. If you want to still use you cabs as well you would be looking at adding an attenuator.

The LIVE is simply a load box with IRs that replace the mic and cab. So, you plug your amp into that and run the signal to a mixing board or monitor.

I love my LIVE. It is perfect for me and my current rig. I still would like to give the Axe II a try. I'm sure I could find a place for both in my gigging world.

What will be interesting to see is how the PedalPro will work with my rig and whether it will do for me what I would get from an Axe II?

Further to what David says here, the Two Notes Torpedo Live is the perfect solution for us tube snobs who prefer an actual amp or happen to have a favorite amp and don't need a box full of amp tones - but still prefer a digital FOH signal without the cabs. Contrary to popular belief, and with the use of in ear monitors - you don't need that wind at your back from a cab. What matters to me is lowering the stage volume, getting rid of all the ambient crud that competes, not blowing the rest of the band off stage and not blowing the hair back of people in the line of fire of a cab. Whether this is done with a digital box, a Palmer or an ISO cab, the results are the same. Having a digital box full of cab/mic sims and onboard EQ is a plus. I don't even use cabs in the practice room anymore. The active RCF monitors stay wired up through my mixer and the amp through the TNTL through the mixer (for IEM's) and to my monitors.

Cool, thanks for the help Shark Diver and Steve. I have invested too much in my amps to switch over to an Axe FX or a Kemper and Two-Notes seems like a happy medium.

That is pretty much how I've always thought of it - as the best of both worlds. You can still use your cabs as well if wanted. Pretty cool.

Two Notes Torpedo Live is where it's at. I haven't used a cab in a couple months and couldn't be happier. Don't have to tweak anything, no more dicking around with which cab, speakers, etc. Makes every amp sound great through the FRFR's and FOH. Best of both worlds here - keep your tube tone and feel and play your favorite amps at their sweet spot.

I was a little weary at first, running some of my coveted amps without a cab and trusting the digital load box. But, I have run all of the old Marshalls, the SLO and my Diezel through it for many hours. As a matter of fact, I left them all on for 12 hours at a time, just to get some piece of mind that nothing would fail.

I run everything on the canned 412 British V30 sim and haven't even downloaded anything new or any 3rd party IR's. Plug and play.

Your welcome :D

Thanks :D

Just busting your cups. Glad you like it. It is probably the best purchase I have made in years. I just ordered the PedalPro, so with the SLO and LIVE I think I will be set for gear for a long while. I will try just the LIve and PedalPro for a small frfr rig too.

Just checked out Pete's demo of that PedalPro. That was fantastic. You already have one?

Should have it in a week or so. Just wired the funds today.

Where is the company located? Couldn't tell from their website.

The Netherlands.

Please give us a review as soon as you get the PP. I'm very interested as well. If it does what it says, it'll be killer!
