Albeit not a fan of Journey whatsoever, you did nail that song amazingly well and the tone was deeelish
Question, perhaps I'm outta line here but your mentioning you played yer Lester as it needed to be in 440, what was that all about it? I'm guessing your Suhr is downtuned a half step or something?

Cheers,
Mo

Yes the Suhr is a half step down :)
It was easier on the vocals as a band to be in that tuning. Roy however much prefers 440hz

Great stuff as always!! One of my favorite Journey songs of all time. I couldn't stop listening to it when it first came out and still never turn it off. Your band did an awesome job as well and I tend to agree with most....your singer can certainly pull off the Steve Perry vibe and vocals with the best of 'em!

Gat damn Mark. That's flat incredible. And your singer....I'm not sure Steve Perry does Steve Perry better than him on that tune.

Great work.

That sounded F'N awesome.

What gauge strings do you use? Your bending and Vibrato looks effortless

What an awesome backing track :D

Well, the coolest thing for me is, that Neal probably needed 3 days to set up his equipment in the studio and adjust his sound (just guessing of course), while with this awesome tool all can be done within minutes.
Sounds great as usual, Mark. You rock.

Thanks!! Technology is amazing, I love my tube amps but this was so super easy to record, no Eq's on the tracks or anything, just a breeze! :)

My band is the backing track. Roy Nichol: vocals, drums, keys; Don Lecompte: bass; Mark Day: guitar.

I used my LP, because Roy wanted it 440hz Aldrich pickups.
AxeFXII USB recording with 4 tracks same performance, 2 are reamps, same preset different cab.

I'm lovin the reamp feature, it couldn't be any cooler!!
NO track eq's or blocking filters used.

I'm done telling you how good your vids are. You have heard and viewed the other offerings on here so you know it. I couldn't record a decent clip if I tried. I guess that is why I don't.

Anyway, you should go back to your porn stache look. It looks better in the vids.

Lol. The problem is my porn stache was actually a goatee but because I am fair haired the goatee looked like a stash on video. So off it came and off it stays...lol.

Damn you Mark....stop that. Stop that right now.

I'll never make a video again, haha.

Awesome! Killer vibrato!! I would kill to be in a good cover band.

Outstanding vocals and overall group performance. You really get a great mix thats well balanced. May I ask what you are using as A/D converter/mic pre for guitar? great job!

Using the AxeFxII's built in USB audio interface direct to Logic Pro9.

Absolutely awesome once again Mark! Props to the band as usual too

Superb! I don't think Journey could have done it better!

Wow!

:)

Yikes - with the awesome singer, and excellent lead work- but also the chords sound huge and chunky and beautiful as well, big and orchestral, perfect blend of Crunch and Warmth IMO- a Technicolor 3D presentation on the whole thing.

+1 on all the comments. This Group has LOTS of talent and potential.

Man ( again )- the USB on the Axe 2 sounds THAT good without a special converter box ? !

Did Direct Recording quietly take a quantum leap with Axe 2 ?
