Hey Guys,
Let's see your guitars that are weird, rare, freaks of nature, oddballs, 1 off's, bastard stepchildren,,,,you get the idea 🤣

I'll start it off with this bute, my Fender 'Alex Gregory' 7 string Stratocaster. I think there were 6 of these made,,,but honestly I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure this was owned by Alex Gregory at one point. The guitar is an anomaly in every way. Yes, a super rare signature guitar for a guy that IMHO, didn't deserve it!
I picked this up about 20 years ago at an auction, mainly because I had never seen a 7 string Stratocaster before. 24 frets, scalloped like the Yngwie model (not quite as deep),,,inside the case was a hand written letter from 'the Maestro Alex Gregory' explaining how to string the instrument (basically stating that he prefers adding a .07 gauge 1st string tuned to high A on the treble side instead of the traditional low B string on the bass side. There is even a small hole for such a thin 1st string on the back of the trem plate (see pix). I'm assuming the thought behind the hole is to prevent string breakage during whammy bar usage? You can run a string like normal thru the trem block, but even the saddle for the 1st string is channeled for using the hole in the plate. Weird!!!! I don't string the guitar that way,,,I like the low end chug of some 'piano wire' instead of shattering glass with a high A .07 gauge string up top.

The Ibanez VBT700 "V Blade" was only made for one year in 2007 before a lawsuit halted production. I believe it was Dean that sued over the Michael Ammot signature V body shape. The V Blade was supposed to be the signature guitar for Sam Toteman of Dragonforce, but the lawsuit forced him to put the same specs on an Iceman body instead. Mine has DiMarzio Breeds in it and a Freeway 6-way switch.

Friend of mine has the white one; always really liked it

Dig the 7 string strat. Sweet metal flake. I’d be tempted to cut a white pearloid pickguard for it. How do you tune it?

Alex Gregory is fuckin unhinged

I'm guessing he was a trust fund baby or something? Dude had tons of high end manufacturers build him crazy one off custom shit (besides Fender, I know of Gibson and Hamer building him $$$$$ crazy shit. There were probably more)

I'm guessing they all just viewed him as a piggy bank because his playing surely didn't reflect the costs he sunk in to his axes

Couldn't agree more. I honestly think the guitar would be worth more if it didn't have his name associated with it. The guys skill on guitar is not good at all,,embarrassing even.
The guitar is well put together however, and when strung up with a proper traditional 7 string set, sounds really good and is fun to play.
That Dark Matter Anomaly is SICK!!!!!!!!🤘😎

These are one of the guitars that I am constantly on the lookout for, absolutely love it

I love one-off guitars.
The GOAT, Neal Moser custom built this S-type for me around '97-'98. The neck and body aren't from 3rd party parts suppliers. The woods were hand picked, glued, cut and shaped by with no CNC. I spent some time learning from him back in those days and at that time in his life, he wasn't interested at all in building clones of conventional designs. He made a special case for my brother and I and we had 2 (differently spec'd) S-types made and they came out awesome.

Below is a Ronin Mirari that used to be owned by Lyle Workman. The body is from 1000+ year old, reclaimed Redwood. I believe all Ronins are kind of custom and unique from one another, but this one is the only hardtail one they built afaik.

Below is a Hania PRS-ish guitar that was made by a UK builder named Martin Harrison. There's like no info on this builder online, but sometime in the early 2000s, he built this for a friend of his and then I bought it from him when it randomly came up for sale locally.

Another legend, Matty Baratto made this "Custom Standard" LP type with Honduran mahogany body (no maple cap) and Brazilian Rosewood board. It currently has Arcane pickups in it and sounds insane.
