Back at it again, what amp to buy?

Sooo....Here is a another boring what should I buy thread.

End of the month I should have about $2k.

I do metal mostly, however I do love some great cleans and might want something that loves pedals because I have been wanting to venture into the pedal world.

Main priority is having a cup holder :lol: :LOL: jk.

The metal tone comes first, then cleans, versitile, plays well with pedals, ect.

I am completely in love with the Rev. 2 Uberschall but also have been eyeing the new Orthos from Rhodes.

I can get the Rev. 2 at a good price used I already know and I am unsure about waiting 12 months for an amp to be built. So Rev. 2 is in the lead.

I am very interested in a Cherry Bomb as well and have also been lurking the Henning single channel thread. Ive heard great metal tones from that amp and with the single channel it may be something I can afford.

Finally I am considering getting another Pitbull, maybe a Deliverance 120 or a 5153 on the used and saving some cash because I already know how nasty they are.

Post what you would choose and why, also feel free to post other amps that you think I may want to look into.

Basically it comes down to what haven't I tried that can compete with the Rev. 2

There was a Peters Halo/Hydra in the classifieds recently. Not sure if it's still available, but personally, if I were getting an amp now I would be getting that.

I loved the herbie.

I only had a few minutes with it so I went right to the heavy, liked the mid cut function quite a bit and I could feel it in my ribs.

Definitely crushing but probably a bit above my range.

If you have it at EOM I'll check it out.
 
I have a Fortin Cali modded marshall SLP but I love the amp so not sure if I want to sell yet. It's a single channel but great cleans with rolling back guitar volume control actually. I had considered a VHT CLX because of the options, but unsure if I could let her go
 
PRS Archon, have not tried pedals with it, but great clean and killer drive channel similar to Uber from what I remember (although it's been since that amp first came out that I owned it, 10+ years) modern tone with a little marshall in the background.
 
Fja or voodoo 6505. I know that diamond amps don't get much love on the forums but they have a 3channel monster called a Heretic . If I was to ever get back into metal, those are what id go searching for

Ive never checked out that PRS, some of those clips I hear sound amazing.

Same as the voodoo modded 6505. Suprised of the cleans after that mod.

I am curious what a Voodoo modded Rev. 2 would sound like haha.

I knew this thread would be a bad idea. :p

More research now but the PRS impressed me quite a bit. Wonder what it would sound like with EL34's or KT88.

What do you guys consider the best Splawn for metal?
 
The 5150 III is one of, if not the best amp available for the money. Great clean, tons of gain, good loop, and great price.

My buddy just put his clean '75 JMP 50w on Seattle CL. He said he'd ship it if the offer was right.

Well I will not be ready to buy until the end of the month.

I am just trying to get some ideas of stuff I have not heard and give myself enough time to do the research before I buy.

I've had a Voodoo modded dual rec (3 channel) and a FJA modded (Jerry can do no wrong) 5150 side by side. I'm more of a 5150 kind of a guy anyways,but the FJA 5150 smoked the Voodoo Dual rec. Night after night, gig after gig.

As far as the Rev 2.. I'd leave it alone, those things sound amazing as they are and aren't terribly common anymore.

Diezel Vh4, best high gain amp ever made IMO. There are a couple posted int he classifieds on the board.

I've got an Ubershall Rev Blue for sale. I agree that the rev 2 may be slightly better out of the box, but I put an MXR 10 band EQ in the effects loop and Holy fucken shit it frighten Destroys
Amp is in fantastic shape. $1,350$ shipped and pal'd
 
Anything...yeah ...2k budget there are a lot of choices..If you stretch that a little there is a Herbert for 2300 up for sale, sick deal.

I would also suggest a EVH 5153 which you can get for about 1k and have money left over
