Has anyone every experienced Wolf overtones in both the neck and bridge pickups when bending the B-string at the 22nd fret in high gain situations?

I have never experienced this before with any guitar that I have owned. It only occurrs on the B-string on the 22nd fret. It is a Dean Z 79 set-neck 24.75 all mahogany guitar (22 frets) with Suhr Aldrich pickups. I know these are high output pickups, but I have these in another guitar and never experienced this in my life except bad overtones on the Low E or A strings. It also did the same thing with a JB bridge and 59 neck in this guitar. . I have tried different high gain amps and the same thing occurred. I lowered the pickups all the way down and it fixes it, but they are way too low. I mean over 1/8 (8/64) away. I know the Dean is a cheap Made in Korea guitar, but what the heck. Seriously!!

I though it might be a fret issue, but took it to the guitar repair person and he checked all of the frets and they are fine and told me to lower my pickups. Duh!!! I knew that but not to the point where they are all the way down!! Any suggestions?

could be overtones ringing up between the nut and the winding posts or between bridge and body.
try something like a hairtie or scuncii to mute the nut/post areas?

Thanks!!! I will try this. I also had the original cheap bridge replaced with a Tone Pros and also replaced the plastic nut with a graphite nut a while ago.

Those types of overtones are often caused be the pickups being too close to the strings, whats your pickup height look like?

I usually keep my bridge pickups around 3/32 or 4/32 and my neck around 6/32 or lower. I do understand that it could be caused by the pickups too close, but the weird overtones only occur when i bend the B-string at the 22nd fret up an octave. I had to lower the pickups all the way down to get rid of it and that is about 8/32 and greater distance.

While this is not even close to being my main guitar and it is a cheap guitar, but it still plays and sounds good.
