The Express is very similar as it was an update to the F-series, rather than a whole new amplifier. However, the Express is not nearly as aggressive for hard rock and metal as the F. It does have a lovely tube-driven reverb in the Lone Star style and the clean channel is basically the same. If your main aim is for 80's hard rock back to sweet cleans, the Express is excellent.

If the Powerball is what you really want, then just take the time to save enough £ for one used and get it. That way you'l have an amp you're truly happy with 110% and then you're all set!
