That place sure isn't what it used to be. But it is still better than a lot of places.

Talked to the manager today. This story might have a happy ending after all.
Good news, Reza. Hope it all works out well in the end.

Customer service is really sucking in America. My girlie says it's the thing I most complain about. From the fast food chick at the register who is busy texting while I stand there waiting to order, to the hooker on the corner who get chewing gum in my pubes, more and more people just don't care anymore. Don't get me started on time warner cable.....

And the problem with guitars, specifically led pauls, is you want to try a bunch of them because one will blow the rest away. When buying online, you never know what you might get.

Sorry for ya, rez. Nothing sucks worse than having to walk away from something cause the seller sucks.

And the greek pizza shop that forgot to put extra hots on my Gid damn sub

I guess I'm lucky that I've met and mostly dealt with managers and owners of most stores I've dealt with. Online Willcutt and Sweetwater are the best. Being young and having a wad of cash HELPED, now old but experienced helps too.

Who needs a fucking sales guy? I prefer them to leave me alone.

Me too.

When all the guitars you want are locked away in a special area, you need someone to dig them out.

Oh ok then yeah it sucks.

Back in 1992, I had the same experience at the Boogie store in Hollywood. I asked to try stuff out and he told me the stuff was pretty expensive. I walked in with enough cash to buy anything they had. I took my cash and walked out. I went to another Boogie store in Orange county. I purchased a Ractifier. They did not have in stock. They called the Hollywood store and had someone drive one from Hollywood to the store I was at. I want to say it was in South Coast plaza. I made sure the salesman informed the dick head in Hollywood I was there yesterday. While I was waiting for it to arrive, the sales people for Boogie offered to buy me lunch and tryout any shit I wanted. I guess you need to look like a rockstar for some places. I have nothing bad to say about the guys at the Hollywood store currently. They are really cool.

had it happen to me in 2011 at a well known store here in pittsburgh. went in with 2k set aside for a guitar or amp, or both pending what i could get on trade for a LP. I was super close to buying a guitar custom built by the inhouse luthier mike caldwell, but the salesman "jeff" or "geoff" was this little wormy fuck of a fuck with really shitty bad breath and just wouldn't leave me alone about how i had set the mark V that i went in there to buy (and trade the LP in on)....apparently i turned the effects loop off because i wasn't planning on ever really using that much, and wanted to hear how it sounded without. i ended up getting this big lecture from him about this and that and PRS miras and blah blah...then he offered me 300$ on a les paul to trade in, and i laughed in his face i left with my money and bought my wife a 1200$ camera and bought a friend's used 5150 for 400$ from him. haven't been back since, havent even looked on their used section of the website really either.

Liquid ass. Best form of revenge without the use of a firearm. 3 drops on the carpet as you leave.

Unless I know the sales person as a long term competent musician type, I usually know more about the gear. And there is no reason not to know more. Look it up on google.

But annoying is something I don't deal well with. And the three main stores I shop at know me. I'm annoying as a customer probably to them. I ask lots of questions, always show them internet pricing, and demo amps at normal loud volumes.

I remember when I bought my MKIIC from downtown Atlanta Guitar Center I had them close the doors to the high end gear room, brought in my Suhr Modern and blasted that thing. Some other salesman was giving us the evil eye.

Fuck stupid people that work in music stores. Find the good ones and buy thru them. I always get their card and mention them to the store manager as very helpful.

unless they move volume there is no reason to be in business. They do what is prudent, many transactions at a quantified price to achieve quarterly revenue goals., instead of a big outlier like a 3k+ guitar to one person such as yourself. I doubt the head sales guy gets excited about your purchase, he wants to see volume.

You probably have to sell him/her just as hard as they do you. Else go to the internet and cut out the consultation.
