Unacceptable, IMO, and I would never deal with someone that had a story like that. Even guys that I personally know and would have trusted have been down this road of not shipping out gear, and I wont ever deal with them again. He's had 3 full weeks. No reason it shouldnt have gone out within the week that you guys arranged the deal. The post office makes it EXTREMELY easy, especially with little things like pedals. You can even order the fucking priority boxes online, they come to your house, you package it up and leave it in front of your door and request a free pickup from USPS online...they pick it up. You dont even have to leave your fucking house. No excuse. Fuck that guy.

I thought the same.....show me one forum where 3 weeks to handle your end of the trade is acceptable, you know?

One doesnt exist, unless you at the very least keep communication and are up front about everything...or if that was agreed upon ahead of time...but I cant really see that being the case unless you're having something built or modded before receiving it.

Man this kinda of shit sucks... I treat online trading/buying/selling with the utmost importance, and like you mentioned, I too have been guilty of not getting things out on the agreed upon day, 99% of the time something happens with one of my kids and it was just unavoidable... but you bet your ass the VERY first thing I did was contact that person, let them know EVERYTHING that was going on, and if they didn't already have it give them my cell number and let them know they can call me at any time...

...I also end up coughing up some extra money for expedited shipping or throw in a couple goodies... but mind you, I've never been "late" more than a day... and I still felt like a douchebag for even that...

Hope you get your stuff brother!

If you make a deal to trade, you make the trade! Period. We all all have obligations, but no ones time is more important than anyone else. Hope this works out for the OP.

lookie there... only ships after getting a PM. Fuck it, call him out so the good members of this board can make a mental note if he inquires about any FS/FT threads here.

I understand life can get busy but not enough to drag on for 3 weeks with little communication...dude logs in to board but wouldn't respond to your PM...I wouldn't trade a pack of strings with these types people myself.

I just saw this thread. Hope it works out for the OP. I wanted to add, as someone who does a TON of buying/selling/trading, that the more you deal online, eventually you run across a few bad eggs. Most of my issues have been with eBay honestly, as that site PROMOTES buyer remorse! I have had one or two minor issues with forum members out of literally HUNDREDS (might be into thousands at this point) over the years.

Point being. It doesn't matter if it's $5 or $10k. MOST forum members I have found respect the community, and honestly care about it's safety and security. Rig Talk, and THe Gear Page have been the best I have found over the years. I typically am more nervous about shipping a guitar to someone on eBay then a well-known forum. If you can't ship right away, which I have seen with myself and several other forumites, just simply explain it when doing the deal, "Hey bro, I am swamped the next few days, do you mind if we hold this off a few days until I can ship?". As long as you are ALWAYS clear with the other guy. Just think about how you would like to be treated, most forumites do I find. :)

Hope this doesn't dissuade the OP from dealing with other forumites. Some of us legit love it, the community and want everyone to be happy. My whole point of the ramble is, take care of business, you may run across a few bad apples, but most are solid guys! Good luck!

Sorry for not updating this.....dude shipped finally; went priority and threw in a couple extras to make up for it....still think that the only reason was because dude that owned the forum told him he'd hit him with the ban hammer, though. The guy gets no more business from me, ever.

glad to hear it was rectified. At least somewhat. Glad you got your shit at least bro. What a hassle.

Yup...just makes me ever more leery of doing a deal with someone I can't really threaten, you know? Dude had been closer I'd have been knocking on his door inside of a week.

I hear ya. Wish we knew who it was. I have only had two bad deals with forum members, but the one is only on ss.org and has made less than 20 posts and the other is on ss.org and the carvin forums. He has started laying low too since he dinged up my guitar and decided he wanted to start shit. Sorry you had to deal with one, but hopefully it's smooth sailing from here on out for you!

Really are a good group of guys on here and TGP in general. MG.org is ridiculous and unfortunately, ss.org has become a bunch of fanboys and 15 year old Ibanez freaks run amok. That sucks, as I really used to love that place a lot. Hope it gets better, as it's been a great place for a long time. They just started running off the older members and it's become rough.

Good rule of thumb, ask the known gear whores. Sounds stupid, but there are a few guys that just deal all the time, and therefore know a lot about who to avoid.

Got to give you props for not starting a flame war about this though. I know when that guy beat up my guitar and started shit, it turned into a flame war from hell. Even guys I thought I knew were jumping in without knowing anything, until they found out it was me. By that time it was a FIASCO.
