Bare Knuckles PU's

I was considering trying out a set of Bare Knuckles and wanted to know if I need the short or long leg for a Gibson LP? I'm also looking for some suggestions on which model to get. I'm looking for something medium to high output that splits well when coil tapped.

Most Les Pauls have long leg, but short leg will work just fine also. The only problem with long leg is if you take out the pickup and decide to use it in something else, it may not fit. But short leg will fit into any guitar.

I like great string definition, tight lows, even mids (not scooped), and highs with good attact but not overly bright. I want it to clean up nice when I back down the guitar's volume. Like I said too, I'm looking for something that sounds good when you split the coils. I'm thinking maybe the Rebel Yell?

All it is, is the length of the actual legs that the screws mount into the pickup from the pickup ring.

Problem with this is on some guitars if the body isn't routed deep enough and you get the long leg you've got problems.

Ya, I'd just order a short leg set - period.

The BIG question is which model are you going to purchase? Hell, there are so many options to choose from... I have a pair of Riff Raffs and man, they are the biz when it comes to vintage style growl. Depends a lot on the amp too. A lot of cats think a high output pick up is the way to go, but a lot of amps sound really really sweet with a lower output pick up therefore making the amp have to work a bit harder at its job. The Vintage models are all lower output (in comparison to the super hot Contemporary line up) and sound truly beautiful. However, the Vintage Hot would have something to offer you too.

Emeralds.
Riff Raffs.
Rebel Yells.
Miracle Man.

Any of these would light you up - with the lower output being the RR's and the hotter outputs being the MM's and RY's.

I definitely think the Rebel Yells would fit you. They're quite bright, so they work well in darker guitars such as LP's as well. Not sure what you're looking for in a neck pickup, but a lot of people like to pair up a VHII in the neck with a Rebel Yell. The Rebel Yell and VHII are quite hot, not super modern ott gain, but medium output I guess. Tims calls that lineup "Vintage Hot"
However, Tim from Bareknuckle is honestly your best bet, as he knows his pickups best

rebel yells are bright. a very very vintagey bright.
I wouldn't put them in a guitar that's fairly bright acoustically.

Nailbombs do a better job compressing down some of the upper treble.

I love BKP's super hot stuff but in the mid to slight hot range...BGPickups Hellabucker is my favorite one by far.

I just had a set of coldsweat installed in my J custom.They are awsome! Clear and punchy with great clarity.Perfect for 80's rock and metal up to modern trash metal a la slayer,metalica .Very crunchy but warm at the same time with singin lead tone.The neck is absolutely awsome too,very fluid lead tone.

The Cold Sweats sound interesting, but I'm a pretty big fan of warmth of Alnico magnets and the CS's are ceramic.

Cold sweat neck Pu is alnico;it's ceramic only for the bridge Pu.What kind of LP is it for?If it's a Mahogany-only,the Rebel Yell won't be too bright..
