Advice: adjust the magnet 2 a 3 mm from the lowest string with the finger on the highest fret.

Well being as obsessive as I am, I've listened to a ton of youtube comparisons, clips and read everything that I could find on the web: I think it's definitely down to the Nailbomb Ceramic or the Miracle Man set. I really think I'm going to end up with the Nailbomb as it seems have nearly 90% of the Miracle Man's overall aggression...But also has a bit of a warmer, rounder feel and more pronounce "grind" in the mids.

If anyone would like to talk me in...Or out of this direction...I'm all ears. Thanks for all the thoughts, advice and suggestions thus far.

oh and btw, TeleBlaster wouldnt know his arse from his elbow and doesnt know wtf he's talking about regarding BK quality control. I have BK pickups in 95% of my guitars (and they are all "new") and they all sound fantastic and ive never had ANY issues with them whatsoever, which i cant say the same about with the "big" brands like SD, Dimarzio & EMG all of which ive had problems with in the past.

Once upon a time, Tim wound them all himself and they were very, very good. Nowadays, other workers make them and the some of the materials have changed as well, making them average to not so good.
Find old ones if you can. With the exchange rate, new production has a poor rate of return, tone for dollars IMO.

About how long ago did this take place its got me curious. I have a set of aftermaths from when they first came out. I dont care for them at all in my Les Paul. I really made me sick as I wanted to love em but just cant gel with them. There still in the paul as I am still trying to like em couse of the 300 i paid for em.

After I posted this about the aftermath i was having problems getting them to sound they way I thought I wanted it to sound. A few rigtalkers pmed me with sugestions and advise and now I got them set up right in my paul. The key for my style and playing I had them to close to the strings. I found that in my guitar the bridge set up just even with the pick up ring it did wonders. Now I cant stop playing the dam thing and they sound awesome. I had read somewhere on the board that the trick was to set em close as possibile. On mine it was not the case. Now I am a happy camper...

To keep this thread going, I've got a JP7 basswood body guitar. What pickups would gel well with this one. As of now it's got the original pre d sonic pickups. They sound alright but I want more clarity and less low end. I want my chords to sound tighter. Id love to hear some opinions. Thanks!

To keep this thread going, I've got a JP7 basswood body guitar. What pickups would gel well with this one. As of now it's got the original pre d sonic pickups. They sound alright but I want more clarity and less low end. I want my chords to sound tighter. Id love to hear some opinions. Thanks!

I would try the BK Miracle Man if you are specifically looking for a Bareknuckle pup. I love how that pup sounds in basswood, tight and grindy with the right amount of highs. That's something you'll really appreciate about the BK's too, they have a clarity to them that is really addictive. They can almost feel like there is less output if you are used to most high output production pups. It takes a bit to get used to, but it becomes addictive once you do. You'll notice it right away when you play other pickups again. Shitty addiction to have though, the things are pricey if you're overseas.
