Copper wire wrapped around magnets. Pay what you want but I' stay with the original instead of the "sounds like" for twice the money.
That's exactly what they said when Seymour Duncan started his business, building Fender pu's clones...

Well I have some pretty pro guys doing my setups, but anything is possible... ;)

I think I forgot to set the pickup heights on your old guitars that had Duncans, that's probably why you didn't like them.
Sounds like a possibilty. The BK's I installed sounded good, not really much different than a JB/ 59 combo. I wish I could remember what they were. The customer likes them. He may chime in here at some point.

Nah, he's kidding. I hear a big difference. But we all hear things differently. :)

I just picked up a 7 string RG with BKP Miracle Mans in it and that thing sounds fan-frickin-tastic. I also have a mahog bodied Charvel with a Holy Diver and it also sounds huge. Big fan here. YMMV.

Interested!
Have you played any EMG-equipped guitars?

I swapped speakers in my cab today, and thought I'd run the guitars through it, just for kicks.

My Schecter C7 Blackjack has a JB in the bridge, but when I played it kinda loud, it sounded like I was riffing on the neck pickup.

I then picked up my EMG-loaded ESP, and it sounded great! I think that JB has to go. The Schecter itself is a very nice sounding plank, it actually sounds a lot bigger acoustic than the ESP, but with heavy riffing, it left me wanting more.

Would you say that the MM is similar to EMGs?

Oh yes. Big fan of EMG's. The MM is "focused" like an EMG but not quite as much. Very big and phat sounding. Tight low end on the B which can be hard to do on a 7. I would definitely give them a try. I am wanting a set of Aftermath's now,... YMMV

the emg 81 has more upper mids than the miracle man
but the miracle man has a similar voicing with a lot more open compression
shred stuff get that same active clarity, but with a smoother top

schecters are usually quite dark
maybe you should try the aftermath or a painkiller

but the price discussion is stupid, specially in this forum, where full grown men spend their days whining about pretty much everything, and buying $4500 camerons that don't sound 10% better than a $800 Marshall with a $30 booster

  Dude, you'd better get yourself a flak jacket. Incomiiiing :D

a custom shop Seymour pickup is machine wound and costs a lot more than a BKP

i'm staying out of this pissing match as far as my feelings on the brands and all that but i do want to clarify that statement since it's 100% inaccurate. Custom Shop Duncans are all hand wound by either Seymour or MJ in the custom shop and cost on average $160 direct from Duncan. You don't need to be famous or a dealer to order them or anything like that either (not that you do with BKPU either, just clarifying another common misconception about the Duncan Custom Shop). just call up the custom shop, talk to MJ and tell her the pickup of your dreams and they will wind it and ship it directly to you. they have standard custom shop pickups like the DeMartini or '78 etc but they also do full blown 1 off custom pickups for the same price based on your needs.
