BARON or SPLAWN for the best Marshall Killer or modern...

That was my fear, no clean channel on the YJM. :(
I want that true, creamy Marshall goodness and I don't mind rolling back the guitar volume to get clean, roll it up for dirt and then the boost for hard rock and my OD for high gain. I worry about build though, seems Luke typical mass produced Marshall.

Good friend of mine plays in a top 40 hard rock band with am old 1973 JMP non master. If he can do it, I should he able with the YJM. He rolls back for clean and uses a boost for things like Tool.

I am not saying to nail tones perfectly. I mean all the things I ask....I can cover with my PWE and Bogner. :)
Why not just use those?

I haven't been really jonesing for any amp for a long while, I have 2203/QuickRod/101B/50CL and DC-5 and the YJM is the only new amp to come out in a while that really made me want to own one....

Stopped into our local music store today, they are crunching the numbers and looks like I am ordering one! Thanks for the recommendation guys! I love my PWE and Bogner but always wanted a real Marshall! I can just roll back volume to get my cleans. Excited!!!! :)

They also have a used Mesa Rectoverb head in mint shape, I told them I would take that as well. They said they could do maybe $2600 for both!

sweet...give an update when you get it and let us know how you like it. I'm honestly impressed with those amps, Marshall should just release it without YJM. People may think its only for poofy pirate shirt wearing shredders when the truth is its just a great Marshall Plexi with couple of useful modern features added. I dig Yngwie myself but because his name is one it wouldn't be a reason fro me to buy anything.

Yes, and it costs more cause his name is on it. It seems to be built much better than other new Marshalls. Like I mentioned guys, I bet I could gig this amp on any cover gig, assuming I have the right boost or OD pedals ready to kick it into high gain land!

Good low volume tone? Loop? Two channel?

It has a built in attenuater and switchable 100/50 watt mode. Footswitchable boost mode. Kinda like two channels.

Sounds nice at the 7 min mark and the power chords at 7:28!

Talked to my buddy who has worked on some of the signature series Marshalls and he said they are not built that well.

I also ran out and checked out a Quick Rod at the only shop near us that carries Splawn and I am in love with the amazing Splawn Quickrod again!

But I quickly cancelled it, because I am soooo indecisive. It was not easy to get out of and I felt like a jerk. :(

Not to sound like a dick.....but your posts don't make any sense at all. Not only on this forum, but other forums as well. You contradict yourself and make claims of owning things that you later ask opinions about.

Sorry if I'm missing something......but it's pretty obvious if you read some of your posts.

Mr. Baron will be the first to tell you he isn't trying to be a Marshall killer. He's got his own thing going on.

Ill second this. My Baron k88 did not sound like a Marshall ! The B series is the better comparison for the British flavor of course but they sound like Baron amps to me and not Marshalls.

My Splawn Nitros ( 2008 and a 2012) dont sound like any Marshall I have ever heard either.

The build on the YJM is fine, that comes from guys with many many years diving around amps.

If you dig the Spawn that is cool, just pointing out that the new marshalls are just fine construction wise.

If you like your Bogner 20th Shiva why not just stick with that?

I had an amp repair shop tell me a few of the signature model Marshalls they had been in, were not that great and I have been inside a few DSL's, and wasn't impressed. The YJM may be a different story! :)

I love my Shiva and love my PWE, but lets face it....we all have GAS (most of us) and when I have the extra money aside for an amp....it is nice to add something to the collection, especially if it expands my tonal library. :) :D ;)

Go Splawn and don't look back. If you know how to dial it in, and pair it with speakers that give you the type of tone you're looking for it may be the last amp you ever need.

Yep, pretty sure I am going Splawn Street Rod with custom diagonal 212 cab with Celestion Creambacks.

Sorry to be so indecisive Gents. Thanks for puting up with me. I think with a Shiva, Event Horizon and Splawn, I should be very happy for heRe to come. The Shiva and PWE are surprisingly versatile. At rehearsal, we played everything from van baldness to rush to Metallica to creed to Alice in Chains to Tool to Matthew Sweet and Radio Head and both the Shiva and Event Horizon can purr like a kitten or crush like a lion. I am excited about owning a Splawn because the gain is very responsive to the guitar's volume. I can use the volume knob to get my clean.

I will let you all know when the amp gets here. I told Splawn I am going to go through with an order, either a Street Rod or Quick Rod. These days I prefer the 50 watters, smaller, lighter, less tubes to maintain, and easier to get into the sweet spot.

Yep, looks like I am going with a Splawn Street Rod head. Time to get the order ready again! LOL. I really want one, I just got side tracked by GAS! :) I love the Quickrod and the Street Rod head is like a smaller QR. I am ordering a custom 212 diagonal cab similar to the Mojotone 212 like this! :)
