You may want to check out the PRS Tremonti baritone model. A lot of great features on it.

Isn't the baritone Tremonti just 25.5" scale? I remember SSO losing it over a debate whether that was somehow dishonest marketing because it wasn't longer. But it is longer than the typical Tremonti scale.

It is indeed longer than normal scale and allows you to utilize an unwound g string so the feel is the same but obviously the "sound" is deeper/lower. I think its a great alternative.

Who's using a wound g on a 25" scale? I mean, I'm sure it happens, but you don't need the extra half inch to enable it, even if you're tuning down.

I play an SG Baritone. I like it a lot, coil tap pickups. I used some super heavy gauge strings, but I think this robbed some of the "cut" for heavy rhythm work. I'm gonna try a lighter gauge.

-one of those all white, big bodied tone monster's I've been lusting for since I played one!!!

Yes sir, named it White Jesus haha. I love it, but I'd be willing to move it if you're interested. Just send me a PM, I have pics and all details.

I went through a baritone phase and I'd recommend trying it. It may be just perfect for you. Obviously a lot of people love it.

I do not like the longer scale lengths for 2 reasons:
1 - the high E string was tight and sounded thin. I struggled getting a good balance between a clear low B string and non-thin sounding high E string.
2 - Although playing the longer scale length was not uncomfortable, when I would go back to a 25.5 scale length, I felt SOO much more comfortable. I got to where I wouldn't pick up the longer length guitars any longer, so I just traded/sold them.

The Tremonti baritone has the same scale length as a normal Strat...

I knew they made a Mike Mushok Baritone. Had one. Really good guitar for the money, and sounded huge. Even better with a pickup change. Had the Jackson DK27, liked it okay, think the Mushok was beefier. Had s few of the Schecter 26.5, meh. For me I prefer the 28.625 scale, which I believe considered a true Baritone, I think the PRS is a 27.7. Have not played the newer SE Baritones, but sure they are decent. I wish they had an ebony board like the Mushok did. My thoughts on them.

I never said anybody did use a wound G string on a 25 scale. What I DID say is on the Tremonti baritone guitar you can utilize a heavy set with an unwound G string unlike a lot of the other baritone guitars with various extended scales. ;)

Stevie Ray Vaughan for instance. I remember reading that he used a 25.5" strat with 12 guage strings, wound G.

Just looked up the tremonti and its a 25.5" and comes with 14's tuned to C standard. Maybe I should just get some 14's and see how it feels. Highest Ive even went is 12's.

I'm playing with a wound G on my 25" and 25.5" guitars. Hard to bend for sure, but intonation is much better.
Playing in Drop C though.

I have two baritone guitars that are just fun to play when you are in that mood for serious low end. One is a Jackson D27 with BK Warpigs in it which has a 27" scale and the other is a Partscaster/ Tele build a buddy of mine built for just to play the Twin Peaks theme for shits and giggles, it has a 30" scale.

The 27" scaling is kind of nice cause I have big hands, but the 30" is seriously similar to playing a bass guitar (tuned to b). I made a few for fun recordings when I first got it and it sounded pretty cool, almost like distorted bass...

Here are some samples if you want to hear... 1st one is what my friends ended up labeling as stoner rock

2nd recording was just misc metal style riffs of the moment
