Considering the Phil X and was wondering if anyone could compare the Phil X to the BE?

I own a Phil X and for me it blew away the BE and JJ when I AB'ed it with them. It's way more open, organic, tighter, brighter, and more articulate than both and just sounds way bigger to me. It's not as gainy or saturated but when I boost it with the right od pedal it can get more than gainy and saturated enough for my tastes. The other Friedman's are too dark and polished sounding for my tastes, and while the Phil X still is more polished than I would like and still not as bright as a true Marshally sound, it's no where near as dark or polished as the other Friedmans. I heard the new BE for 2016 is supposed to be brighter and more raw and aggressive, so I'm very curious check it out if I get a chance.

Good description on the PhilX. I agree with every word.
But the key is the music you play. If you are a straight rocker/hardrocker and you don't need some bluesier or softer tones, than the PhilX is your amp.
When you need some softer, spongier and bluesier tones the PhilX isn't perfect. The amp has always a very raw and bold attitude even when using the guitars volume knob. It feels always a tad stiff and too bold for my taste. In a good way of course but nothing for a real lovely ballade or softer tones. The X Amp wanna rock... With every single note.

If you do want to be able to access some bluesier tones, what Friedman would be best?

Smallbox ist the best all around amp...
