Be100 loop

I have mysteriously acquired a phase or mild swosh effect.I use the loop mix at 3/4 as suggested..the delay setting is 300 millisecond with one repeat with a very low mix..is this a phase inverter thing?

Change the 12ax7 in V4 (slot closest to the power tubes). I love Sovtek 12ax7LPS in phase inverters.

I run my effects loop at essentially the same level. What I do is turn the loop off, start strumming chords or a note, and then turn the loop on while still playing. I keep adjusting the loop level up or down until I hear no difference between it off or on. Dave's loops are so good that you can get it to where there is no difference whatsoever with it on. Can't say that for many of my other amps...

Yes. Unity gain and use the front master volume. I think it's absurd to have to use the return level on back of the amp for volume. Such a hassle IMO.

I emailed Dave a while back about it. He said it makes it no difference either way and it's fine to do it like I run it. And my effects sounds great in the loop.

your lost dude,this is a friedman post about an amp,not a complaint thread.The MV is not on the back of the amp,the loop mix is,but wait you know that right? your the amp guru everyone refers to when they are buying a tube amp? Sorry i missed that,the amp is a brilliant piece of work so please get a clue,and if you dont want to buy one post that information on the pertaining thread,not one about a technical question

Thanks man,wondering if it is the #4 phinverter, idont have any problems with the loop mix,i run it at 3/4 as Dave mentioned,and it works like a charm, my mix is good and the master volume on the front is the same, i am concerned if it is a technical problem or the tube has expired, i dont know what happens when the phi goes faulty,or if thats what sounds it could make...was my question,thanks for the help.

Yeah, not sure what that was all about. I guess he was being sarcastic that I don't like to use the return level as a master.

Just to be clear, I am NOT knocking the amp or Friedman or Dave. I love Friedman amps and my BE is by far my favorite amp. Dave is a great guy and ALWAYS helps out with any questions I have.

OP, did you get a chance to swap out that PI tube? Wondering if that helped...

Bad preamp tubes can do what you described. You know how tubes are, even the best can last a year or 5 minutes. But, it's cheap and very easy to replace. I'd start there and I'll be willing to bet you'll be good to go.

You definitely got me wrong, dude. Im very happy to hear that the MV is not neccessarely on the back or that there are more ways to use the loop. . No critics or sth like that. I always thought you MUST use the return Level as global master with engaged loop. So it was a great tip for me to dial in for unitiy volume. Im driving to the local store next week for checking the SS100.

That's great man,my appolgies,i thought I mis interpreted what you were saying,I think you had gotten a DS from friedman I remembered..interesting thought as they do not have a loop mix,if I had to guess I think the be100 and ss has that because of the amount of gain,which Dave quoted the loop return keeps the noise floor down,and boy does it...thanks man

All I have is a sovtek 7025 12ax7wa,I may try it just to see,i have some Chinese 12ax7s too,I will give a report

Are you running the amp extreamly quiet? If so there is a tad of bleed in the amp that can be causing the phasing. What effect are you using?

Thanks Dave,that actually may be what I am.hearing,it's at a lower volume,I don't notice it at band volume,so I hope once it's cranked it isn't there,I was wondering if it was something I should look further into,its a tape delay but I here it with a chorus effect too.So at lower volumes would it make it less noticeable or non existing to use less of the loop mix?

Analog dry path and a decent level of volume will fix it. If you are wanting to run the amp at whisper volumes, put a Ernie Ball 25k ohm volume pedal in the loop with the channel volumes run higher. The volume pedal will act as a master and FX return level as a master/master. I do this to alleviate similar problems with my Bogner Ecstasy (though the Friedman FX loop is FAR superior).

Seemed to be something with the effect..I changed a few settings and it stopped the phasing/flange sound.Was a mainly when I would slide of a note or kill the volume..I agree with what you said about "nothing negative about the be100" best sound I've had and it's the one!!....checking your photo,you have some serious artillery in that gear room man..now that's a man cave.lol..thanks again

So much confusion in the thread, whew... But If your using effects in the amp loop, you're supposed to do the opposite. Get the front masters up to around 4-6 and then the back loop Return volume like a master volume and adjust to taste. I believe it says this in the manual. If this has changed then many people I know that own Friedmans are still running it this way like the manual suggests when using loop, and I would like to know if this setup or "suggestion" has changed.

In all honesty I like running my amp loop a little over halfway and then cranking the front masters to around 3-4. PLENTY loud for shows.
