Just curious what guitar and pickup combos my fellow BE100 users out there are getting good results with.

Suhr modern with Aldrich pickups, Tom Anderson strat with an hf2 Anderson pickup and a les Paul custom with a motor city pickup

Mark day used to have a motor city of some sort in his suhr and/or les Paul as well

Cool , thanks! Nice guitars man!

Forgot to list mine.
Ibanez 92 Rg550dxpn with Dimarzios. Air Zone (b) Area 61 (m) Paf Joe (n)

Charvel 1995 USA San Dimas 1 Tone Zone (b) Sustainiac (n)

American Strat Evh Frankenstein bucker (b) stock single (m) Dimarzio Heavy Blues 2 (n)

Anything I plug into it ... seriously ... I have 3 Grosh guitars, RC-S (strat) with Dimarzio Areas, RC-VT (tele) with Dimarzio Area Hot T Bridge and Area Neck and a '59 spec set neck (LP type) with Grosh's own PAF style pickups and they all work amazingly well with the BE. Most importantly, the sound and characteristics of each guitar comes through really well as they are all very different to being with.

You know, I keep hearing MOTOR CITY PICKUPS literally all the time from Dave and all the Tone Merchants crew, but there's not much info or explanations about the tones of them. Can't find many clips and if I do find clips they are of a pickup name thats not even on the MCP website.

Anyone know if MCP has clips or comparisons of their different pickups?

I was going to upgrade one of my Les Paul Standards, so I'm looking for a bright and articulate set that can play classic-hard rock. Had a set of Bare Knuckle Mules in my 59'Ri and wish I'd never sold them. The Mules could have been a hair hotter but man were they tight, smooth and had unbelievable punch and clarity.

True, I've read about that too on Mark Day's posts(T Wrecks or whatever).....I'd like to try them but have to agree with ya, info is hard to find. The Bare Knuckle stuff seems much more accessible. I hear good things about the Holy Diver set with floyded super strats for those 80's hard rock/metal tones and BKPs in general.

I currently use a Gibson Les Paul R0 (Shanks) with a Motor City Pickups 2nd Degree Blackbelt in the Bridge, and a Les Paul R9 with a Bare Knuckle Mule in the Bridge. They both sound nice, but the MCP has a little more harmonic content than the BKP and is a tad bit more open sounding. Personally, I think the Wolfetone Marshallhead I had in my R9 sounded the best but I was having some noise issues when playing out with the band on smaller stages, they aren't wax potted.
I use a Friedman 4X12 loaded with Celestion M65 Creambacks and to be honest I haven't heard any guitar sound bad threw the BE100. My buddy brings his Les Paul Jr with a P90 in it and it sounds awesome, My other buddy played his EMG loaded Jackson threw it and it sounded killer as well.
Just a great amp all around !!

Hey man, I'm havin a little noise issue with my Marshallhead pups too. Of course mine aren't wax potted either cause Wolfe insists on it to have a more open sound, but the feedback sometimes can be bad if you move to certain spots. Did you have the A5 mag or the A2 mag in bridge?

As far a MCP my faves are the 2nd Degree Blackbelt, the Blackbelt (more vintage), Twreck and the new Dragon Suit. Best pickups I have ever had. I also have a Arcane Tripple clone I love and some Fralin humbuckers that are great also.

Yea I was thinking about getting a 2nd Degree Blackbelt for my 59RI bridge. Are they bright pickups? Not like harsh but like good presence bright. And how does the neck sound? I like bright neck pickups in Les Pauls and a good punchy bridge with balanced frequencies.

Haven't heard of the dragon suit, do you have any more details Dave?

That amp loves my Charvel with a JB and my hard tail Strat with a BKP Aftermath... I use standard tunings and the Aftermath is advertised as a more low tuning kind of thing but it rips in standard tuning as well, very smooth and a bit dark. killer for high gain tones

I have tried both the A2 and A5. To my ears the BE100 seems to like the A5 a bit better but my JMP Master Model clone likes the A2.
Noise is only an issue when I play on small stages with the volume on or past 3, when I play on larger stages its fine. I just keep the MCP pickup in my main guitar because it works well in all situations and sounds fantastic.

I would say that the 2nd degree blackbelt is more balanced than bright. It does have a very musical presence when used in a les Paul standard, very clear pickup that works well with overdriven amps or clean amps (to my ears). I have no experience with any MCP or BKP neck pickups.

The 2nd degree has a great open top with some balls to it. All his neck pickups are very clear and never muddy.

Cool. I've had the 2nd Degree BB on my mind for awhile now and the Motor City pickups are at a pretty decent price so I might have to try a bridge in either my 59RI or Standard Les Paul. Thanks for the info Chachi and Dave.

I use vintage, non-potted A2 pups, like SD Antiquity or Seth Lover, or Gibson Burstbuckers.
My G&L Legacy has a JB hb in the bridge.

Used those when I had the Smallbox and BE100, and use them with the JJ now.
I really like the open feel and dynamics of lower output hbs. I use boost or od pedals if I want more juice.

I'm using Lollar Imperials in my les paul standard and Kinman blues in my alder strat with excellent results. I love the BE100 and am also using a matching cab made by JDesign loaded with one celestion greenback and one celestion V30. Great sounds!
