Beat to death but ...strings.

When I started playing I went through all the strings & chose D'Addario. 20 years later I got a wild hair when I got this new guitar & went through them all again, and ended up right back at D'Addario. About a year later I discovered their NYXLs and switched, and have been very happy. They stay in tune & last a long time. They might be a little bright, but better to start off that way so they age in.

Only notable mention is SIT stainless. Love the tension & feel but don't want to chomp my frets.

Always D'Addario for me. I've tried a few different strings over the years and just always stuck D'Addario but it's not like I've done extensive comparisons. I need to try the NYXLs I guess.

Elixr Nanoweb , I went through a phase of comparing strings...DR, SIT, Ernieball, GHS, etc etc.

The Elixrs sound and feel great for me. What surprised me when swaping different sets of strings on my guitar was how much of a noticable difference in tone you will get from different brands. So it's such a personal preference type of thing that it might be worth doing a string shootout.

Absolutely, I mean they ARE the note. Part of why I don't like changing flavors all the time. I find something I like and I get stubborn.

Ernie Ball 10-46 slinkys…
Has anyone tried the new Ernie Ball cobalts?

I might be nuts but I think different guitars like different strings as far as stiffness, tone, buzzing go.

Yep. Only boomers for my LP, but lots of strings work on my strat.

Started out with GHS Boomers but I kept breaking my high E. Switched to Dean Markleys and never had another high E break on me. One day my neighborhood music store closed up shop and I couldn't find the Dean Markleys anywhere. My guitar buddy suggested D'Addario and I've been playing them for the past 25 years.
I'm using these for a 25.5" scale in Drop-C#:

I ended up with the SIT power wound. I love em! Much smoother feeling than I would've thought. I tried the standard D'Addarios and as Glip22 said it buzzed... Maybe it's because of the "off" scale and the way the string vibrates and wire to wrap ratio and all that fancy stuff, hahaha. That fraction of an inch must make all the difference? GHS however was quite nice too, SIT's felt better to me. Plus my guitars are both good with the SIT's so yay for that. I am a huge fan of the nyxl's though. Just doesn't seem a good fit to me on the Mayones though.

Kinda surprised the SIT's aren't more popular, they're pretty nice.

I use NYXL's went from EB 10's to NYXL's I had to go down a string size but I like them they retain there brightness for months
