I always by a half beef every year. Holy shit it's getting expensive. It's great beef Black Angus-X Wagyu but damn. Does anyone else buy beef by the half, what are you paying around the country? Im located in Hutchinson, Ks.

My grandmother used to do this every year and split it up with our house and herself - always loved it as the butcher would throw in extras like sausage and bacon for her and we'd have good quality meat through most of the year. That's been years though and I have no idea what prices would be like here these days.

Lots of people I know do. I’m not trying to eat that much red meat. Or store a god damn deep freeze.

I buy beef by the bundle, I have a deep freezer. $7.79 a lb is a scam and so is "American Wagyu". No disrespect.

the wagyu is probaby gimmicky. $7.79 is high for the ground beef, but the TBones, strips, ribeyes, and filets is a good lb price. last years half beef was $600 less.

How much does a 1/2 of cow cost?

between $2,000 and $3,000

Price Ranges

A pasture-raised half cow will cost you between $2,000 and $3,000. If it's not pasture-raised and was given chemicals—or if it's a smaller cow—you'll be able to get one for cheaper. But obviously, the product won't be as good.Mar 11, 2024

Well "Wagyu" from Australia or Kobe from Japan is the expensive stuff.
$1900 for 1/2 a cow is reasonable.
My boss pays $900 bucks for a case of {6} whole beef tenderloin to be broke down into Filet Mignon by yours truly. And we get 2 of those a week.
Try buying a Beef 103 Primal cut [ribs 1 thru 7]
Id say you made out fine.

I am a carnivore thru and thru, just cant afford half a cow. Sure wish I could. Enjoy!

Why the limit on red meat? If you ate just beef your health will improve!
Maybe I should have said processed red meat. I eat a lot of venison and Bison when I can get it.

Also, eating only beef will definitely not improve your health. lol

We get a 1/4 cow per year in Missouri at $5.35 per pound processed - but I'm buying from a friend. The dude has won awards for his use of AI. Grass fed Black Angus.
