You do know Wal is back in business?

I placed a order for a 4 string MkII with birdseye top and the deposit was 1000 pounds sterling and balance is due when its done. It comes out to around 5k USA dollars

You can get a brand new Wal 5 string for under 6k according to the price list, there is a nice fretless MkII on Ebay for 3700 as well, if I had the money I would place a bid.

Yeah man, I'm sold on them....ever since playing my friend's musicman, I've never wanted to play any other type of bass. I bought mine after playing his and haven't looked back :) Those 5 strings are sick too, I think way down the road I might get me one of those as well, but there are few things higher in the GAS pecking order ;)

The most noticable think for me about the G-K so far is I like the treble on it a lot more than the other bass amps I've played, it's awesome for slap/pop stuff without being overly harsh. Still have yet to play the amp at real volume though, so I can't really review it until I've given 'er a good workout....next week hopefully  Still hoping I can nail that Appetite for Destruction or Lateralus tone at some point...got Flea's tone down at least ;)

Cheers,

bigrig

I'm shooting for that Tool tone as well, my plan..... :D

Ampeg SVT4pro, has 2 seperate power sections, 1 just straight clean, the other side I'll run into a PSA-1 and into the reurn on that side and run it gritty as hell and have most of my fx on that side as well. depends really on which cab selection I go with, If I'm running a single cab, I'll have to rearrange my setup, but if I go with the 2x12/4x10 or 2-2x12s I can do it easily.

That bass does look killer. My buddy is selling a schector 5 string (not sure the model). Trying to resist and hold out for a Musicman Sterling 5string. I don't really need another bass though.

I really enjoy playing bass, there is something about the interaction with the drummer that is just cool. Its fun to be the 'master of the low end' :)

Bass is where I started as well. My favorite bass has been a Lakland 55-01 for the last 6 or 7 years. Currently, my bass rig consists of:

Lakland 55-01 w/ Nordstrand Jazz pickups in soapbar cases
MIA Jazz bass

Mesa Boogie M-2000 head
Bergantino NV215 cab

how is that M-2000? I always wanted to try one but i think i'd regret getting rid of my bass 400+ in order to get one.

I love the M-2000. The fact that I can switch channels, blend them and even call in some gain while being able to switch in and out the EG on each channel is awesome. I admit that this is a bit of overkill, but if you play bass for a couple of different kinds of gigs, most of the sounds that you would probably want are in this amp. I have also never had the volume past 10:00.
