Yes it was nice just to grab a 2x12 combo and plug in and play, but man does it really suck. Just no dynamics whatsoever  I cant even think of rolling back the volume...it's like it's all or nothing

What about these Spider Valves? Any better than the old blue Valvetronix models?

Looks like I'm busting out the Splawn again

Oh well, until then at least my wife helps me carry in and out my gear

Why are you considering the SpiderValve amps, when you have a Splawn amp?

Well, because my Splawn rig is big and bulky for playing little clubs. I did like the Vox for the simple fact it was so portable...it just sounded like crap imo (guess most amps do to me after having a Splawn)

Also, I play in two bands and it's nice to have an amp (that doesnt sound like crap) at each practice spot

so....splawn plus a 2x12? its not taking up any more room than the vox. but anyway yeah the spiders are cool, does it respond exactly like a tube amp tho? no, but they definetely are cool. however i dont see it as that much of an upgrade from the valvetronix tho.

Well if you have the cash, why not get a street rod? the 40w QR combo?

No chance the vox is better than the spyder!

I'd say there's a very good chance the Vox sounds better, depending on which Valvetronix he has. The SV sounds sterile and lifeless.

I'd go for a small tube amp that can be mic'd.

I absolutely hate Line 6 spiders...they don't feel good or sound good, have a real shitty high end thing you can't dial out. The Vox kills them. Change your pretube in your line 6...Get a used Legacy combo and a few pedal; boost for the front, delay and eq for the loop and you can rock any gig.

Older Mesa combo and a Thiele cab will sound very close to a half stack in fullness, even if the sound dispersion isn`t the same.

Before I put my Caliber into a rack, I ran it as a 12" combo with a 1x12" EVM cab. I wouldn`t have any second thoughts about playing that rig in a club.

Tom - I rocked my SV HD 100 Friday at a cover gig. It worked out pretty great esp with the floorboard controller.

I tried the 2x12 combo too. got rid of it and bought a Splawn 2x12 to go with the quick rod. its not that much bigger and more versatile because I can just use a 4x12 for the bigger gigs.

To bring the pain you must go through some pain ya sexy bitch.

Bring the heat with the Splawn bro
