Thanks to member splawner here, I'm now a proud owner of a 5150 III S 50W 6L6 head with a 2x12 matching cab. I've been super busy with work, so I've only have about 2.5 hours of playtime on the setup so far. Amp rips especially with an OD in front. Very happy with this setup! Question for you guys with this amp. I'm running the volume at 10 o'clock on both channels. I have the gain on the blue channel between 2 and 3 o'clock and the gain on the red channel between 10 and 11 o'clock. I haven't messed with the red channel much, but wow it has a shit ton on gain on tap! Out of curiosity, where do you all put the gain setting for the blue and red channel on your amp? I'll post a picture in a little bit.

You bastard! Man, I've been saving up for one of those and about halfway there. I already have the Stealth 2x12 cab. I got it when I traded in some gear. I currently have a regular 6l6 50 watt and love it. Just wanting to get the Stealth for the improved features and to get something with a quieter effects loop. Once I get the Stealth, will probably get my 6l6 effects loop properly looked at.

The head is crooked on the cab, get that fixed right now!!!?

Seriously, sick setup. Was thinking of picking up a stealth as i have the 6l6, bit some say it ain't that different??? Curious to hear thoughts on that.

I absolutely love my 6l6. I use that with my band and have the el34 100w and 6l6 100w 8n my basement!!!!???

Congrats!

I run the gains about the same as you. Blue has a pretty wide and versatile gain pot so 2:00-3:00 is great for the heavier ranges of that channel. The Red channel's gain is pretty much instant chaos so anything between 9:00-noon works really well with that channel.

I absolutely love mine. I run the gain around that as well. I like to boost the green and blue channels but honestly doesn’t really need it. The red channel has a shit load of gain and don’t ever run it over 10-11 o’clock. This amp has 7 gain stages on the red channel and 5 on the blue channel..

LOL! I knew someone was going to say that! Really enjoying the setup. This is my first EVH 5153 variant so I can't comment on how this compares to the others. As far as the crooked head goes, I'm not used to turning the amp on from the back and my buddy's basement has shitty lighting, so I needed to see which switch was power and standby. I was really surprised how well it handled my seven string with black winter pickups. My Mesa's hated the black winter pickups, and I was about the change them but for some reason they sounded great with the 5153 stealth. Thanks for the comments everyone. I'm curious to see how my PRS sounds through this after I change the bridge pickup to a JB.

Ha ha. You got a great excuse so you exempt!!!! But yeah, you gotta get used to where the switches are, i too am always wondering witch one is witch. My BE100dlx is worst, the switches are far apart and they work opposite other amps, down is on and up is off!!!!

They are exceptional amps, and for the price, best value in the current market imo.
