So I got this 1987x already modded for a pretty good price. When I got it it sounded decent but a master volume was added and the effects loop was basically like plugging a delay right in the front of a heavily distorted amp. Just awful. I figured the loop was the problem so I got the drop in replacement that Headfirst makes. After my local tech going back and forth messaging to the other side of the world, we discovered the amp was more of a mess than anything. @RedPlated was kind enough to share info when I mistook him for Shea and after talking to him I decided to just send him the amp and let him do whatever he wanted. Turned out to be a great decision. Clip above is straight into the amp. I’d say it’s about 75% of the gain it has available. Highest gain diode clipping with the preamp on about 7.

Sounds killer!
I’m really happy with it. I don’t have the gain that high during gigs. I have it in the lowest gain option on the clipping. It’s way more open sounding that way. Stepping on some pedals gets me where I want to be with the option to stack them. Usually always a Klone and/or the OG Koko boost.
