Belated NAD (JSX) new mic'd video added

Had a good amount of play time now. One improvement i made was swapping out the 12AX7 in V2 and putting in my old Ei 12AT7. Big improvement IMO. Less gain, better crunch and less compressed.
Here is a quick iPhone clip since my mic and interface are still in storage.

Sounds great. I run the volumes on mine the opposite way with high master volume and low channel volumes. Sounds bigger to me that way. You can also put a jumper cable in the effects loop and turn up the send and return dials to get more volume from the amp.

For sure - Crank the Master to about 10:00 o'clock and use the channel volume.
The JSX has always been a favorite of mine. They sound great with KT77's!
 
Hell yeah dude!! JSX was my dream amp all through college but I was too poor to get one. Eventually joined a band where the other guitar player had one and I got to play it all the time.

Good grief, that's killer. Stock amp?

My Triple X head doesn't sound anywhere near that good! Damn, I want a JSX head now.

Stock with the exception of putting a 12AT7 in V2 to reduce the gain a little. It also made it a little less compressed. As you can see i guess I'm kind of a gain wuss. :LOL: Even with the lower gain tube and a 9.1k humbucker i still only run the gain knob at about 10-10:30 o'clock. I do turn on a boost briefly at about the 2 minute mark.
Maybe tomorrow I'll make a much higher gain clip.

Yeah man, I've been wanting to try a JSX for years. I'm definitely liking it. It's not replacing my VTM as my main amp, but it's a killer compliment to it.

Actually, the tones you got in the videos are what sold me on this amp. If I get another tube head, it'll be a JSX. Thanks for posting those clips!
 
What pickup, pot and boost are in the demos? I've always enjoyed your demos. You get killer sounds, man. Just killer!

Yeah nice! For sure a super different anal from the VTM. By the time I got mine, I’d already gotten my first 6505 212 combo and moved away from the JSX kinda tone.

Thanks man. The pickup is the stock pickup that came in my shitty First Act. It measured 9.1k on my multi meter. It very PAF ish. I did wax pot it and took out the tone knob. It just has a 500k volume pot now.
I usually boost amps with either my PLX Bion boost or a SD-1. In this clip i used a BBE Green Screamer for about 15 seconds.
