I can't seem to find his homepage on Yahoo. Just a Facebook page. If he Co. did go under than I have to wonder if HHI, which is BC Richs parent Co. didn't hire him?????

There was a post on another forum indicating Bernie is under mental evaluation for ongoing mental health issues. I think it was a message from his wife that was on their Facebook page.

I am speaking to you tonight on behalf of my husband, Bernie. Bernie is currently unable to deliver this message, himself. I am not affiliated with BRJ Guitars in any professional sense, so I am unable to address any specific issues regarding outstanding orders with BRJ Guitars. In no way is this statement designed to assuage the confusion and anger those of you feel towards BRJ, or justify the extended delay on your orders. I am here to state facts, not give excuses.

Bernie is currently receiving acute psychiatric treatment in a controlled environment. By controlled, I mean that he has no access to phone, email, or basically any medium to conduct business with. Bernie has been admitted for psychiatric treatment several times since early 2012. More recently, Bernie was admitted 8 weeks ago, and his date of release has yet to be determined. My husband has developed a mental illness and is a danger to himself, and has been for some time.

As you can imagine, all of this has been devastating to our family. I have been left with a situation that I am in no way qualified to handle. I have limited and scheduled communication with my husband, so I am unable gain any immediate resolution in regards to his business. I won't tell you to be patient, because I know that has been asked of you for far too long. I simply hope that this helps you understand why closure to this situation has been delayed, and why it will continue to be delayed.

Yeah, hopefully everything ends up getting back to normal... There are a lot of people waiting on builds from him. Myself included. I just hope he hasn't burned through all his funds. That could pose a problem.

Hopefully Bernie pulls through it all and can come out the other side in good mental health. I wonder how much of his issues are related to his business endeavors? With all the stress he's surely under, I'd guess that's a large contributor to his current mental state. I couldn't imagine being under the kind of scrutiny he's been under for awhile now. Bad situation all around.

I've sang his praises online for years now, due to my love for his instruments. It pains me to hear of these issues and the multiple reports that some have received less than stellar guitars from him in the past couple years. Roughly, it seems 2010 was a turning point of sorts where quality went from consistently high to complete hit or miss. I surely won't defend that at all, but I also won't stop enjoying my few Ricos for years to come as whatever happened to the company/quality control in the years since mine were made won't make me feel anything less about my own guitars.
