I'm looking at the Gibson DSM and DSR's as well as the Martin Custom at MF. What is your fav acoustic under $1K and what do you think of those ones I've mentioned? Thanks in advance.
Go to a GC and just start piling them up by you and start hammering on them, you will be surprised on the difference just between 2 of the same model. If you find an awesome sounding one buy that one, ordering the same model is not a promise on the same tone.
I played one Breedlove that was incredible, went back a wek later and it was gone and never found another that projected like that one.
Dude, honestly...go with a Larrivée, I got a Larrivée OM-03R, it's a beautiful beautiful instrument that sounds GREAT....it's extremely well done, and it's a dream to play, and all this being a new guitar, which we all know acoustics get better, sound/play better with time.
I asked A LOT, here, in the HC Acoustic forums and the best bang for the buck is Larrivée. Peopl also suggested Breedlove, but you cannot go wrong with a Larrivée.
I still haven't recorded mine, so no videos/clips yet, but trust me.
I play everything from finger picking, strumming and flat picking and I'm VERY happy with it.
Thanks for all the opinions. I scored a Gibson DSR new off of ebay w/ hard case for $570 so I'll give it a go. I think they sell for $1150 online so if I don't dig it, I'll sell it and keep looking.
