Best amp for around $1,000

Used, new or if you just get super lucky whats the best amp for around 1,000 on the market. Because there are tons of not so great amps that go in that price range when most people spend that much they feel like it's alot. Not knowing whats out there because they walk into the local guitar center and get sold a B52 or Line6 Spider Valve. What do you guys think is the best deal on the market now and what are some of the best deals you have gotten.

Depends on the style.

Fender plus pedals? For the clean type player?

A marshall? DSL? JVM? For more classic sounds?

EVH 5150 is the pinaccle of design, features, performance and affordability that will cover most ground.

Else, a mesa for specific mesa sounds.

A peavey XXX/JSX will cover almost everything, will give three discreet channels and leave a lot of cash for a great used cab at the same time. It's active eq are its weakness and secret weapon at the same time. It will swap power tubes, will do clean crunch/heavy and modern/thrash at the same time, three gain/volume/tonestacks, good loop...great master (almost makes you think the amp isn't loud:it is, the master is different). Great amp for peanuts.

Back in the day some it was almost a sin to own a Recto and everyone hated on them. Is this what you are referring too? Now with so many new amp's and amp companies people like them. What style of music OP?

I agree with the jsx and 5150 III 50 watt. After searching for a New tube amp for years, I settled with the JSX. I tried Bogner, soldano, vht, etc but the Jsx just seemed like a perfect amp for the cash. It is a versatile and sounds great.

A few years back I ended up getting the 5153 50 watt and I haven't looked back. It's a fantastic and that is versatile and sounds great. Just this morning, I jammed along with back and tracks from the Black Crowes, Bon Jovi, no doubt, faith no more, and Soundgarden. The amp sounded perfect with each of those songs.

Best amp, bang for the buck and most versatile a 3 channel used recto. The original version of the 3 channel is going between $800 and $1000, you get three channels 8 modes with solo boost and choice of tube rectifier or diode. They are built like a tank and speak for themselves.

Second places goes to the EVH 5150 50 Watter, almost as versatile, a little cheaper on the used market. I am do not know about there road status but I have not heard of many problems with them.

I had both....sold the EVH and kept the DSL as it does a better job at getting the 80's thrash sound with my SL2H EMG 81 / EMG SPC guitars and a Maxon OD808.

The Electra Dyne is one of the best sounding amps out there. Fender clean mode, low gain Plexi mode, modded JCM800-esque mode. 90 watts Simul-class or 45 watts class A/B. I was a huge fan of Fender Blackface amps, until I played the Electra Dyne. But then the Vintage Lo channel is so good, I'm on it 90% of the time. Love it!

I scored a Roadster head used for $999 through GC. I've been seeing Deliverance heads in the $800-1000 range. You can often find VHT Pittbull 50 or 100CL's in that range. Also, can't forget the JCM-800 which can be found in that range.

I think the Recto is an icon just as the plexi was in 70s Jcm800 in 80s.

When you think of modern hard rock pretty much every band has used them it's a staple .

Set up properly with the lows tightened they sound huge

What about Laney Gh, Iron Heart, or the VH100?
I think some Blackstars new are around 1,000
Also at one time Krank, Madison, Carvin and, Egnator were al in that price range some still are and quite great sounding amps anybody have opinions on "budget amps"

I picked up a 6534+ last month for $700

Earlier this year I picked up a modded 6505 for $600

If given a choice, I'd go Peavey and save $300-400 bucks vs. going for a rectumfrier.
