Best Attenuators for Stereo Preamp/Power Amp?

Hi Rig-Talk, long time no post,
I have a Mako Mak4 with two outputs going into the stereo Fryette 2/56/2 poweramp going into a stereo cab; was trying to figure out how to run an attenuator with this setup. Would I need to invest in two attenuators, since there are two separate channels?

The new Friedman STFU seems to have two volume knobs, does that mean it can input/output two channels?

I have the same rig. It's fuckin loud isn't it? I just run it mono most of the time. I find the fryette to sound good even at very low volume settings (of course, it's better loud but you'll find this to be true generally). I wouldn't attenuate this rig, but if you want to do it you'll need to attenuate both power amp sides separately or just leave one on standby and attenuate the side you are using. I don't see the point really unless you must run stereo for some kind of wet/dry rig or effects situation. I've found the simpler I keep things the happier I am.

Thanks for the rundown; it's a pretty amazing rig, although loud  , and I haven't been playing through it as much as I would like since my last cabinet speakers blew. I have a Fatbottom 4x12 coming, what cab are you running? From what I'm aware, wouldn't it be a bad idea to keep running the amp mono, since you are burning out one side of the power amp?

Yes, you would need two attenuators.

Are you really overdriving the power amp?

Sounds like you need to match your speakers to your rig, rather than attenuate it.

If you are blowing speakers with a 50 watt per side power amp, then your speakers must have been way too light for the job.

A 4X12, as you said you are waiting for should be more than sufficient. Rule of thumb is having twice the headroom on your speakers, or be very careful :D
