Well... maybe the best filmed in Vegas but they're still the best somewhere! LOL!

Here's my "redo" of the Friedman Butterslax demo. All 3 channels over 3 vids. Full knob turning, etc.

Vid 1 is Channel 1 - Clean to Super Crunch
Vid 2 is Channel 2 & 3 - Mid to High Gain
Vid 3 will be a full mix clip (coming soon...)

Vid 1 of 3 - Ch. 1 "Clean to Mean"

Equipment used was:
• Friedman Butterslax head
• Balaguer "SD" guitar (Limited Edition)
• Balaguer "Feral" humbucker set
• Two Notes Torpedo Studio
• Hop Pole "Big Beast" Zilla 4x12 (V30's, Ribbon 101 and Dynamic i5 mic's)

Kept the recording pretty damn true. No post "magic" done except adjusting some output level. This came out (IMHO) INFINITELY better than the original demo I did. Hop you all dig it.

The full mix clip is still being edited but will upload soon!

You are going to love it!!! Simply amazing. I love every channel. I will own one in 2018 for sure. I need to play a BE-100, JJ and Slax side by side before committing.

Yin Yang mate... The money *POOF* dissolves,
But alas, a brand new Butterslax *KABOOM* explodes on the scene.
Tit for tat, although I will state I'm more a fan of the former rather than the latter...

Oldmtlhed, I may ask that you expand your services to the "support network for chronic GAS addicts". You'd be a good fit. A shrink for gearheads. I think there's a valid and possibly even quite lucrative market for this. Maybe get a 1-800 number that states "CALL BEFORE YOU BUY, LET'S LOOK AT THIS SERIOUSLY!!"

I appreciate your wisdom in these matters. I seriously do, because it really is fucking nuts innit?!?! :salute:

Super jealous. First the JJ! Now the Slax. Congrats man. Would love a comparison from you. These are the only 2 amps that have me seriously thinking about selling my vh4.

Awesome vid jer!! Best demo vid out there. They should give you the slax for it

LOL! Thanks man! I would certainly welcome one!!! LOL!

Alas... if I were a betting man, I'd say it'll still be on my dime. I was glad to have them let me have my way for the Slax for sure. Rob and the Friedman crew are super cool. It actually was my goal to put out the best sounding Slax demo's possible. Hopefully mission accomplished. Would love to be a go-to guy for Friedman demo's.

I actually pulled the original one I uploaded as the audio levels were unacceptable so glad I could get these done.

Ya, Jer your video along with Reza's play through made me realize it's worth taking the dive to see for sure and for real, what these two amps offer against and with one another. As you (may or may not) know, I sold my minty 2001 Rev.2 a week or so ago to a super stoked and mega appreciative cat. He's absolutely in love with it. I loved that amp too - seriously. But as I've explained to a few people, I used it 10%, maybe 15% of the time to lay down some tracks. What it did for those 10-15% was hands down "perfect", but that left 85% of my playing to other amps. And - as off as this may seem - the Purple Mod TJ still to my ears, kicked its ass (and was more versatile).

So the JJ shows up... Immediately I feel at home with it. It's like I've been playing it for years. Then the nuances came in - the "details". I asked around and these details are apparently a Friedman "signature" to his amps. So? Why not step into the Butterslax realm. If it's too much, I can sell it. If it's as good as what people are telling me (and from what I'm gathering thanks to Jer's videos and Reza's run through), I'll be a happy cat.

I'm not at all a fan of Mastodon's music - but the clips and detailed reviews of the BS have me okay with dropping the coin.

I'll let y'all know how they play with each other (JJ and the BS) when the BS lands.
Peace - and thanks again Jer for killer clips, examples and run-throughs.

I just got done watching the second vid. I dig the more aggressive bits around 6:50 and 9:50. Can't wait for vid #3!

ahem...and Uncle...you're gonna want the cab too.

Yeah man please do!

The ultimate compliment for me is someone saying that anything I demo helped them decide on getting a new piece of gear. That goes for any piece of gear too. My hope is that I can represent stuff in as good a manner possible and do it in as unbiased a way I can without coming off like a shill. Friedman certainly doesn't NEED me to get amps sold, but let's face it. These amps aren't available everywhere for folks to try first, so if someone is going to drop big coin (and these are worth every penny), I want to do it justice.

I am NOT making a living (or a dime for that matter) at this, that's for sure! I do love it though and hope it will grow. It pushes me to learn new skills (video editing, recording, post production, etc.)

Not sure if Dave has seen the vids but if he has, I hope he thought they represented his hard work appropriately. I would LOVE to hear some side-by-side comparisons of the amps if you are able!

Thanks man! Yeah it gets amazingly aggressive but even with all that gain, it's a tone machine and the gain is all 100% usable. The amp kills with single coils, split humbuckers, etc. I am more of a classic metal/punk guy at heart so for me Channel 1 is pure gold but I get down with the heavy too and chugging away on Channel 2 & 3 feels almost gluttonous in the best possible way.

The 3rd vid is actually a full mix clip of Mastodon's "The Motherload". I need to tweak my vocals a bit and then will get it uploaded for sure.

I like your idea!
From the looks of things... it would be a needed service in the community.

Don't get me wrong, I like nice things. I like nice amps, too.
But it doesn't make much sense to try and own EVERY SINGLE expensive boutique amp ever made.
Yeah, they all sound a little different. But does it even matter?
If I owned a Hughes & Kettner TriAmp Mk.3, do you think I would ever look at another tube amp head?
Why would I? What could another amp do for me, that the TriAmp couldn't?
To me.... ONE $4,000 amp is enough. And for what I do... ONE is too many.
I'm just too practical I guess. I can always talk myself out of anything.
You guys would laugh, if you knew how many conversations I have had with myself over that past three months
about whether or not to get a BOSS Katana head. Seriously. I must have talked myself out of it about a dozen times.
And it's only $350 !!!
That's what I keep telling myself. It's only $350. It's not the end of the world. It's no big deal.

But oh.... my..... God. If I was ever thinking about buying a $4,000 amp head..... wow.
NO WAY could I ever talk myself into THAT. There is no reason I can think of in the whole world,
that would justify a purchase like that. So it will never happen. But that's ME.
I am NOT trying to tell anyone else what to do. You guys DO WHAT YOU WANT.

If that new $4,000 tube amp brings you 20 years of joy and happiness.... it would be worth every penny.
But if you play it for a few weeks, then stick it on your shelf next to the other five or six boutique amps you
already own..... well......

( See.... i'm doing it again, huh. I can't help myself. )

Hey man, thanks! I know I sound like a broken record, but I really appreciate you taking the time to check the Videos out, and provide feedback. I should have the last video wrapped up before the weekend. .

Congrats!
I'm trying to decide whether 2 x 15" are snake oil or actually helpful with this amp, or any of my other amps... Otherwise it's a pig of a cab.

But I'm researching it, thanks for the heads up Lester!!
