Rivera Knuclehead Tre

Values have dropped like a rock. A superb Rivera clean channel and a totally crushing high gain side. Has a foundation control for running a sub cab.

Stupid loud savage amp or very clean.

Laney VH100R. You won't be sorry and it has a footswitchable boost for when you want a little grit.

Genz Benz El Diablo 100. Does everything that the Laney does (both channels) but w/o the buzz on the gain and more footswitchable options.

Agree with the JSX Clean channel, Mesa Boogie Mark III, Is pretty good to.

Fender Bassman

Love the bassman but its 4 ohms and I don't want to get another cab

It should be fine to run a 4 ohm head into an 8 ohm load. I do it all the time.

very cool and good to know. I'd definitely love to go the Blackface fender route but the 4 Ohm thing was throwing me as I really don't want the fender cab...

checking out a lot of interesting threads on the Roland JC120.

Thanks bro's.

Marshall Club and Country...they're combos (either 2x12 or 4x10), but I had a head shell made for mine locally. Has a 6db gain boost and reverb on one channel and a second plain Jane channel. Real nice clean tone. Mine had factory KT77s in it when I got it. Paid 300 bucks for it, replaced a preamp tube and it worked. Had the headshell made for around 300 (I forget). Killer clean amp.

It's not a head but a Mesa Blue Angel has an unbelievable clean sound

Mesa Lonestar Classic, I think it's possible to get them under 1K. In fact most new Mesa's all have a great clean tone.

My Mk III does but breaks up sooner than I would like but that might be because it is the 60 w version. The Mk V has a great clean but still around $1500 and up used.

Wait didn't you have a Shiva?

I say Rivera K-Tre... awesome cleans and the loop is highly regarded
Oh and you get some br00t4lz as a bonus ;)

This is what I was going to say - I have two and mainly because the clean side just rocks.

You may laugh, but I just got a used Peavey JSX and its clean channel is by far the cleanest I have ever owned. ZERO dirty whatsoever.
Totally agree..great clean tone. A little delay, chorus and your set

Rivera. Never tried a Tre but used to have a K100 and loved it. Easy to acquire within your budget on the used market.

Find a Fender Tone Master .... That's what you want. For me it is the best Fender ever.

If you need a loop a 100 watt Boogie MK III is one clean mo'fo and they are well below your budget on evilbay, Rivera but I've never played one. If you don't need a loop it's really hard to beat a Fender Twin Reverb or Bassman for surgical cleans.

Like I said previously, I've owned damn near 100 amps....the clean on the JSX is hands down the best I've played. Go check out a clip from theampfactory.com of the JSX clean.

Soldano Astroverb if you can use less wattage. Mesa Tremoverb is an oft forgotten 2 channel amp with nice cleans and Dual Rectifier goodness.
