Best guitar cable shielding for external noise

I live by a radio tower and i pickup some radio stations through my amp when the effects loop is engaged. If I touch the cable connector it goes away so it seems like it could be a grounding issue or cable shielding (not an effects loop issue because it doesn't happen when nothing is plugged into effects loop). What are the best cables for blocking out external noise? What about balanced cables? Thanks.
