Shielding the nether regions

I dont know what has changed in the past 6 months, but i have had this situation like my guitar wasnt grounded. It would buzz if not touching bridge or strings.

I took off the back and everything looked good, but I resoldered it anyway. When that didnt work, i bought a new pot and tried it again. Noise still there.

Recently, I wired in a kill switch and a new output jack and noise was still there. So I bought some copper tape and completely shielded the cavity. Noise gone.

I hope this helps someone, because it was annoying as shit to figure out, and it is curious that i never had this problem before...but anyway, anyone have any idea why i started picking up interference?

First guess would be something electrical in your house. Change any appliances or had any work done 6 months ago? Using a different outlet or room to jam in? New piece of gear, pedal order, etc...?

I use a decent amount of gain and have had some noise issues. Going to try some copper tape. Thanks for the reminder!

New pedals for sure. But one thing I forgot to mention is that i had a ground loop caused by my gate, so I fixed it by putting in a lehle iso transformer at front of amp. It is wonderful

Shielding the cavity of an instrument is a labor of love. If I don't love you or your instrument, it's gonna cost you a lot of money to get me to do it.
