Dunlops have never failed me. Ive had the same pair on my LP for over 10 years..and its used hard. Never popped out. Ive tried a bunch of others with all of them having some sort of issue. Dunlops are great!!!
What issue did you have with the Schallers that makes you think that Dunlop is a better option? Do you play live?

Always have used schallers; never have had one loosen up, but then, I always tighten it with a wrench.

I've used some super glue on the Schaller nuts ( :D ) to keep them tightened. But there is no nut on the Dunlop so thats another advantage for me. Oh yeah, and I hated the schallers on the SG, they were trying to make a hole thru my belly (evil straplocks) :scared:

Anybody have experience with the new Ernie Ball straplocks?
I just use the red gasket from the Grolsh bottle. Pricey for the gasket but comes with free beer!!!

Aloha, Rob.

I have used the schallers before but the nut comes loose on those and that is a real pain in the azz to worry about that causing you to have a damaged guitar. When I had low cost guitars then no big deal. but I own some really expensive axes now like alot of you guys and I want to use something that works. I did see the ernie ball set up. I wonder how well they work?

For true straplocks, I don't think anything touches Schaller for pure function. I've had Dunlops pop out for no apparent reason...I'll never use them again. If a Schaller "malfunctions" it's still supporting the guitar...not so much with the Dunlop.

+100000 to this, verbatim.

I've had dunlops fail. The dunlop's ball-bearing system is basically locking using 1/64" or less of metal into a tiny groove, and that can totally wear away with time.

I can't really see how schallers can actually fail, besides the nut coming loose. Which, just like any other screw on your guitar or amp, make sure it's tightened regularly if you gig regularly. I hold the bottom with a wrench, and TORQUE that sh*t down TIGHT. Never had one loosen. If you're still afraid, use some loktite on the threads.

Ditto...

I have only had one come loose, and that was on a thick strap. A little dab of blue locktite, and done.

I've used the Dunlops for the past 10 years without any issues.

And yes, my Les Paul has seen a lot of gig action.

I guess I am not torqueing them down hard enough. I use a wrench, but the nut has eventually worked loose on most of my guitars. Always caught it before it came off. Just hand tightening will get your through the gig until you can wrench it down again....

I personally stopped using them a long time ago. But have since switched to over-sized strap buttons (All Parts, etc). Cheap and have never had a strap come loose with them, as it takes a little effort to get the strap on them.

I used ring bolts and caribeeners (like EVH,Wylde.. mabye a fewe others..)

3 bux and i have my strap on and it NEVER falls off or fails LOL
