Best hair album of the 90s

Maybe not the best per se, but definitely one of my favorites that was maybe a couple years too late for them to go anywhere with it. I think Ritchie Kotzen would sub in with them from time to time.

If 1989 counts, it's definitely "Poison" by Alice Cooper

This song is a fucking masterclass in key changes and modal modulation, and if you know anything about songwriting you know how this song turns all the I IV V VI tropes and cliches on their head.

If Alice doesn't count out cuz it was put out in 1989, it's definitely "The Crimson Idol" by WASP

Not sure if you'd consider them a hair band, but I'll add this one as well

Damn good choice with Alice Cooper's Poison from Trash. I LOVE that album, and yes...you are correct. The progression in the chorus of Poison, when learning it, I'm like wtf is this? I've never done these kind of progressions in 80s rock before.

I always thought that "Poison" must be a pain in the fucking ass to sing live because of all the key changes and modulations

They weren't really metal, they were alternative. But that song Love Is On The Way kicks ASS! I was jamming to it earlier today at work.
