Did some reading up on it today. Not enough out there as far as individuals sharing their experience for me to draw any conclusions or formulate any opinions. Having the legendary channel 3 of a VH4 in a pedal is something that I'm going to have to test out for myself one day. Now let's convince Diezel to make a Herbert pedal for those of us who would like to try it.

It just always seems like these "amp in a pedal" units never seem to sound like the actual amp that they are based on though, regardless of what power section you plug them into. Maybe it's just a misconception on my part because I set my expectations too high?

While we are on the topic: anyone try out the new Friedman pedals? Or how's about the Bogner Uberschall and Ecstasy preamp pedals since they've been out for quite a while?

Just found out about the BE pedal from the other thread and I Am pretty amazed. People are claiming that it does sound just like the amp but even more aggressive.

Any info on when this VH4 pedal and Friedman BE pedal are going to be available?

Ive been using the MXR 5153 pedal, I cant recommend it enough...

Is that a preamp? I thought it was just an OD box meant to be used into a clean channel of an amp?

I think they're one in the same. Anything to drive enough power to the power amp to make noise would be considered a preamp IMO.

Distortion, Fuzz, OD.

I used the term in the OP because some of these pedals were designed with gain in mind to use as a seperate preamp VS. just adding more to an existing preamp as a boost. (Which they could do as well)

There is a difference. Preamp pedals usually have more high end and may be harsher sounding when they go in the front of an amp. Some distortion pedals can pull it off others not so much.

I read the Friedman BE pedal will be out in July or so. Should be a killer way to get Friedman tone without spending thousands!

None, personally.

But if you want some magic, check into one of these:

Wonder how this would sound out front of the Fryette Power Station.

Well then, color me interested! Let's see if it beats the Friedman sim on my Axe-Fx.
