Best JCM 800 style amp for around 1000 bones

Do you mean the VM with KT66's?

no. I had a Sig:X with KT88's and it gave me the most massive headaches headaches ever (didn't matter how low or high the volume was). If it wasn't the tubes, maybe it was the frequency or something. I actually like the VM, but it sounds more like a late 70's JMP to me than an 800.

We had Jim's (yngzaklynch) VM at my house for an ampfest last year and paired with an SD1 it held it's own against the Cameron CCM...

Good point.I have thinking about grabbing one just because of how stupid cheap they are.
