A few more would not be bad. I have yet to find a amp that can really do this.

I tried that ..... It really is a great sounding amp. I still want a M4. But It still does not sound like my Twin / Super Lead rig I had in the 80's.

Am looking for something with a decent clean & able to go from classic Marshall crunch to hot-rodded 800 territory, maybe with some extra gain on top of that "just in case". I had been wanting a Marshall head specifically, but am now looking at others as well. I've read great things and like clips of the JCM 800's, Jubilee's, even some 900's, as well as Einsteins, PT100s, Peters, etc. Thoughts on the best all-around switcher, whether it be one of these listed, something else, or entrusting Dave or Mike to mod something into a killer amp? Thanks for your help!

You basically just described a JVM. I love mine and highly recommend them. There was a mint one on HCAF last week for $1300, it still may be there. That is a great deal on a killer amp.![]()

I've heard Killertones amps and they do sound great with that marhsall touch still alive. I also like the marshall 6100 with El34's for a chanel switcher.. although can be a problem due to the midi side of the switching but one of better marshalls that did cover a lot of ground with 3 channels..

Based on experience and having an XTC and a PT100 before I would say the XTC is a bit darker and the XTC's clean channel is nowhere near the clean channel on the PT100, also the PT100 has more gain than an XTC but also can get a great mid gain woody tone that is more Marshally vintage. The PT100 just takes the XTC to town IMHO, but that is all it is, an opinion!!!

A better comparison would be the 20th anniversary XTC, which is quite a bit different than the older XTC's (more open, more dynamic, etc.) The clean channel is actually as good as the blue channel now, IMO.

Friend of mine has the brass chassis 6100, it's the most lackluster tone coffin I've ever heard. Neat looking though! I guess they must vary a lot in tone, because I've heard a lot of guys dig them - his just sounds like ass.
I'd say get a user Bogner xtc. The JVM is a real marshall, but the bogner is built a lot better and would stand up to gigging more - and sounds better to boot. Just my opinion.

I thought so, too. I think the PT is darker than marshalls though. but out of the non marshall branded group it is a good choice. But really.lets step this up with a wizard. Much closer.![]()
