The E906 is better than the 609 IMO...Much better.

I have been using the SM57 with the e609 and it is ok but next on my list is a Royer R-121. I have heard they are a killer combo, along with a good pre. A buddy of mine who records a lot of bands swears by using a combo of the SM57 Royer R-121 going thru a GreatRiver MP2NV.
