Digitech GSP1101?

TC Electronic G Sharp 2?

Line 6 Pod HD 500?

Digitech RP1000???

Any other suggestions

To be clear, needs to be EASY to program as I suck at using effects. I mean so bad do that the Line 6 "less/more" set up on the spider amps works best for me! LOL!

Go!!!

POD HD 400. a little simpler than the 500 and cheaper too.I picked up a mint one for $179 off GC used website. It's better for live use through a real amp than the 500. 400 has knobs to tweak on the fly instead of going into the programming menu and an effects only button which cuts off all amp, speaker and mic sims so you can go right through your amp.If your recording the 500 has some cool stuff that the 400 doesn't like dual amps.

If you have an ipad, the Digitech iPB-10 board is the easiest thing out there to program. The interface is insanely stupid proof.

Will the 400 do the 4 cable method?

Yes and the loop is foot switchable on and off.

Digitech for me, either the GSP1101 or the RP500 , rp1000 , very easy to program and works great in 4cm ,

i had a pod hd500 which i used in 4cm, the pod certainly has more effects/routing and variations to my ears the digitech worked and sounded better in 4cm (this was with the pod 1.31 firmware)

I'm a fan of the BOSS GT - 8. Best combination of tone and ease of use. I haven't messed with the POD HD stuff.

I ended up with the RP. The effects just sounded better. Once you tweek the EQ the amps to me sounded way better than the others.

And it's idiot proof as well! lol... pretty intuitive....

IMO the Line 6 amp models sound more real. Digitech to me always has that processed sound. But you gotta try it out for yourself and see.

Boss Gt-10/100 (great effects, does 4CM, but shitty high-gain emulation)

Have you heard "user uploaded" drive patches on the RP1000? (EQ tweeked not the "Out of the box tones") I sold off my line 6 stuff because of it.. won't EVER replace my tube gear... but dammit sounds good...

I tried the HD500 in 4CM with the Hagen, super easy to setup but there is a slight tone suck. Not huge, maybe you can live with that.

Actually the most annoying thing was a volume boost when using the parallel loop, I've never been able to set it right.

RP and iPB would be it if they had amp switching or at least midi out. I don't get why they didn't add that in.

I have the GT10. Pretty good, lots of options and effects. I dont use any of the Amp Sims though. Very handy to have a variety of moddelled OD pedals, just to switch in little boosts here and there... I pretty much use it for anything pre-distortion...works well.

I also use it to control my G Major (better effects IMO) and switch my Mesa 395.

I definitely won't need to be complicating things up with amp switching and midi. Simple pedal board style (with more options than single pedals of course) is what I need.

The Boss GT-100 is pretty easy to use, will do 4cm, and you can reorder the FX chain almost however you want. Like the HD500/Pro, you can place the Send/Return anywhere in the chain (or just send if you want to run to another amp). I really like the 2-screen user interface and all the dials, quick and easy to navigate and easy to read without bending over to see what you've picked when playing. There is some tone suck I've found, and some effects like flanger add an annoying shrillness. Don't know how it compares to the other systems listed here but I had the HD400 before and returned it, the small display and menu system drove me nuts. I use mine for the effects and not so much on the modeling.
