I put MCP 2nd Degrees in today but on Gibby Quick Connects..

Can't help but feel I'm not getting the best out of them, probably 300k pots and shoddy caps...

-best thing to do is remove the entire factory wiring harness,PCB,pickups, pup selector switch & input jack, only thing left should be the ground. Set all the stock shit aside and start from scratch, buy input jack and switches from switch craft-(or other high quality component manufacturer)-a get exactly what you want.

-then when it comes time to sell you have the original stuff, or if its a lifer sell the stock shit to the tan pants over at TGP.

-TRY THIS!! by-pass all the volume & tone controls and straight wire it from input jack to pups guarantee you love it.

Yeah, I was looking mostly for advice on best components....the stock setup is ok and the blower switch is cool...but most say 50s wiring is the way to go.

Hoping to get input on a pre-wired kit...orange drop? CTS?

I've been contemplating THIS for my PCB 2008 LP Standard, however, am not certain it'd make a big difference. Read somewhere (I can't find anymore) that the PCB has all this integrated. Hate to sink the money into it and have no improvement. As is, the guitar is pretty hot and edgy. Seems like a little (and I mean a little) roundness could benefit the tone, which is what has me thinking pots/wiring.

I'm obsessed with this. Vintage wire and centralab with slight variants of .022 bumblebee is my choice. (Getting spot on .022 is too expensive and they drift anyway)

I've even put evidence audio cables inside guitars.

If I had to use current production Bourns are great. Orange drops. But wire has to be NOS vintage. (Sniffs cork)

If I need tight metal I just go one Bourns volume and nos wire.

In the future I'm going to put out my own harnesses. To try and get as close to the old Gibsons without paying silly money:

I grabbed a kit like this:

It sounds better with the 500k pots for sure and clearer overall. I can;t say enough good things about the MCP 2nd Degrees though..I mean the stock BB Pros or whatever they were are OK but too round for higher gain...the MCPs do lower and high gain with great tone..I was stoked to pickup a gently used set for a good price.

The only thing I wish, is that I'd set the nut height correctly .... I spaced the longs shafts back a bit into the cavity but not far enough :-)
