QOTSA

I have never seen a worse bunch of professional guitarists.

Drummer was good but thats about all the credit i can give them.

Saw them at download, can't understand how high up the bill they were. I guess not musicians dig it a LOT

I thought the tone was awful, extremly poor guitar playing and the "solos/fills"... The worst i have ever heard, period! I have hear better at guitar shops!

Don't get that genre at all.

For me i would agree with Winery Dogs.

This thread is really showing the generational divide of this forum. I don't know about best, but QOTSA is certainly one the biggest rock bands around right now. And for the record, Winery Dogs is barely a blip on the radar.

Why bring up "bigger" when the topic was "best"? And what's the significance of the Winery Dogs' "blip" when talking about something that's completely subjective?

I thought I heard the Winery Dogs album was in the top 10 in the rock category.

The Winery Dogs.

I've gotta mention Brads choice. ACDC, Maiden and other similar bands are still touring and for me a band like QOTSA are great. But do not compare to the old guys that are still bringing it.

I always felt that QOTSA sounded like what David Bowie would be putting out if he decided to get heavy. I dig a bunch of their riffs, but think their tone is crap- it's part of their own sound however. I know Homme goes out of his way to not use conventional gear like Les Pauls and Marshalls- whatever floats your boat I guess!

Not going to get into the discussion about who is "best," but my favourite rock band at the moment is Alter Bridge!

Cheers,

Bigrig

AC/DC is the band that blown my mind the most in a live setting, so they get my vote.

They fucking suck and no one under the age of 50 gives a shit about them. How does that work?

The collective taste of this forum is as bad as the entire state of Florida. Well done guys.

That would only work for an immature, close-minded douchebag...is that your peer group?

Big Wreck is a great band. Winery Dogs rock hard and write some catchy tunes.

Queens Of The Stone Age? What a fucking joke...

I'll take The Winery Dogs talent/songwriting over that bullshit all day long.....it's like comparing Pee-Wee Herman to Mandingo!

Where's your album so I can compare it to the Winery Dogs album? Didn't Ed D hook you up with a big time record contract?

Not sure why Shea is making those comments. From our interactions in the past when he hung here more he seemed more open minded about music. Not sure about the generation comment either because I'm 43 and I will say I really enjoy the songs Shea recorded just like I really enjoy QOTSA, Winery Dogs, and a lot of other bands who have differing styles to their music.

To my taste, these guys are the top of the heap right now. Song writing and chops to burn.

QOTSA have got their own thing going on, and for this I love 'em. I dig their style, what they're putting out, their vibe, and ya, the "art" of what they're doing...

Big Wreck is a very VERY solid band - they know how to craft songs till the cows come home AND play their instruments incredibly well.

What I like about QOTSA is the bit of roughness and fur on the sides. it's not predictable. It's entertaining as hell both musically and "atmospherically". It keeps me engaged.

This thread is all about subjectivity. Personal preference. There's no right or wrong.
