Really need to get a new stage monitor... fried the crossover on ours 3 times now...among other casualties. Gonna be used mostly for just vocals. I know with this type of gear you get what you pay for but Im interested in some of you more experienced gigging dudez and what has worked well for you.. Right now looking at EV TX Tour series, JBL MRX or SRX... really open at this point to any suggestions or opinions. Need something GOOD before I blow out my damn voice... :D The thought of IEM's is there but I really love the "live" feel and volume i get from a show and I won't sacrifice or change something to lose that. Thanks

Cory

Go with the in ear's and you'll never look back. Floor monitors are becoming a thing of the past. The IE's will also allow you to bring your stage volume down.

Our stage volume is already pretty low..I don't have my master on my Killer Kali ever past 9oclock.... though my guitar player plays a splawn and that thing cuts thru so much.. Preference on a good IE system?? Thanks

I'm not sure what model our sound guy uses but I know it's Shure. He's got a killer set up with a seperate monitor mix board. I know there's quite a few different brands to choose from that are pretty decent and not too expensive. I know you get what you pay for though. For vocals there's no better way to go.

EAW use to make awesome wedges if they are still around.

IEM's Cory and don't look back. Your vocals will be better, timing will be better and you don't have to be concerned too much about sound guys and shitty monitor mixes. If you can get the rest of the band on them, you will be surprised at the improvement all around. They take a bit of getting used to, but are worth taking the step. And, the next step is to make your own monitor desk. Get a mixer and a rack splitter. Run all the mic or DI inputs into the splitter, then out to the monitor mixer onstage for you to control the mix, then AUX OUTS to your band's IEM's, then split from the rack splitter to the FOH snake. Do away with stage monitors all together or, leave them there to put your foot up on.

Yeah, looking at IEM systems as we speak Steve. My drummer already uses them and has been on me to get them for some time. We run presonus studio live 16 mixer powered by all crown amps for our live p.a. And yes, I'd have to keep a stage monitor shell on stage for me to put my foot on.. it's mandatory for my rock pose :D  Can't really afford the tour series Shure/Sennheisers, but I am looking at the Audio Technica M2 and then getting some 2-3 driver ear buds for an upgrade. Cheers and Happy Holidays

They'll take a little time to get used to tone wise for guitar but for vocals there's no better way. Allot of times I'll just use one earbud. Give an update after you get them tweeked.

Yeah, I barely have any guitar in my mix.. Most just my vocals. Hopefully I can find a decent used system and incorporate it into my rig for my gigs in Dec. Let you know
